It’s another Throwback Thursday! In today’s post I’m going to be re-reviewing Ally Condie’s trilogy Matched.

Matched by: Ally Condie: The first novel in the Matched trilogy. Everyone in this world is different. It’s what we’ll be like in the future. It is Cassia’s match day. This means that today is the day she’ll find out who she must spend the rest of her life with. But what if she falls in love with someone else? This entire novel is about breaking out of social norms and making decisions for yourself. It was a powerful read. The writing is different. It’s all very proper and she doesn’t use any contractions so it’s read more formal. To get the point across using a more formal attempt made it stand out more. Overall the reader may be a bit skeptical at first. The beginning is slow and you’re thrown into the mix, but it’s a great read!

Crossed by: Ally Condie: The second novel in the Matched trilogy. In the first novel, Cassia had broken out of her social norms in Society to run to find the one she loves, Ky. They meet in the Outer Provinces, but things don’t go as they plan, and a different course of action happens. It seems that Cassia is now going full circle back to where she came from, in the last novel the reader will find out for sure. The novel was well written with quite a bit of emotion that kept the reader reading for more. What really kept you reading was the fact that the author mentions a character has a secret and she hasn’t revealed it yet! This novel was written a little differently as well, it had the points of view of both Cassia and Ky. Ky’s voice was more laid back in writing style where as Cassia’s like the first novel felt more formal. It really gave a distinction of character. Overall, a great second novel leading up to the third!

Reached by: Ally Condie: The third and final novel in the Matched trilogy. In the last novel, Cassia, Ky, and Xander are on their way to trying to find a cure the help everyone who is dying of a plague. Not only are they trying to figure out a cure, they are figuring out their lives for the future, and fighting the Society, which turned into the Rising. In the end all the questions are answered and we, the readers, aren’t left wondering what will happen in the end. It was a great series about our world, and what could really happen to our society. It was very fast paced so reading it was easy and the story flowed well together. Just a little tid-bit; the colours and the girl on the cover have meaning, and give reference to the story.
