Review: All The Crooked Saints

Hi everyone! Happy Monday & it is a happy Monday because it’s my birthday! πŸ˜€ πŸŽ‰πŸŽˆ

Sorry I’ve been obsessed with True Blood, and more importantly Eric Nothman, a.k.a Alexander SkarsgΓ₯rd, just ahhh. Okay sorry! So today I’m going to be reviewing Maggie Stiefvater’s novel All The Crooked Saints.

I have to say that I’m very disappointed that I didn’t like this as much as anything else I’ve read by her. Normally I am completely in love, this not so much. I think I rated it 2 stars on Goodreads. πŸ˜•

All The Crooked Saints

All The Crooked Saints by: Maggie Stiefvater: In the town of Bicho Raro lies strange things. The Soria family is a big part of the town and they have the ability to perform interesting miracles. Everyone is looking for a miracle but they are never what is expected. This novel had heart and it had imaginative storytelling, but there was just something missing from this novel. The writing was in typical Stiefvater fashion, full of wonder and bliss, although this novel didn’t have a strong hold on the reader like her past novels have. As much as the writing was beautiful it wasn’t enough to keep the reader engaged. Near the end is when things started to get good and the plot moved. Stiefvater talking about love and miracles was perfect but it just didn’t have that same connection. The plot didn’t hold strong, and the characters were fun, but fun characters with little substance doesn’t make for the best novel. What was done well was the ending, it was nicely wrapped up and gave a beautiful send off to her characters.

  1. Oh I’m sorry this book wasn’t what you’d hoped it would be Meghan. I still have All the Crooked Saints on my to-read list and want to get around to it soon. Maggie Stiefvater’s books have always been a little hit or miss for me but I’m still hoping this one will be a hit, I’ll just maybe go into it with lower expectations after reading your review. πŸ™‚

Sorry this one wasn’t a great read for you, that’s always a bummer. But at least Stiefvater’s writing itself didn’t disappoint I really enjoy her style! πŸ™‚

    1. I’ve liked all her past books, this one is the first that hasn’t done it for me, but I think it’s bound to happen at some point. I’ve heard that with a lot of people she’s hit or miss; maybe you’ll enjoy this one!
