Hello all, happy Monday; I hope you’re all off to a good start to your week! Today was the first day that I worked from home due to everything COVID-19 related. I hope you’re all staying safe out there! 🙂
Today I’m going to be reviewing Kami Garcia’s novel The Lovely Reckless.
The Lovely Reckless by: Kami Garcia: Frankie is trying everything to forget about the death of her boyfriend; after a DUI she is sent to live with her father, go to a new school, become a new person. While at her new school she falls for the ultimate bad boy, Marco, a drag racing, car stealing boy, who Frankie’s cop father is after. Frankie believes him to be innocent, but can love conquer all? This novel was fast-paced and intriguing. The whole drag racing plot was really interesting and left the reader invested and curious; the relationship and love plotline was lackluster in comparison. The romance felt forced and just didn’t feel natural. The characters were interesting, they were really developed and even though the reader couldn’t relate to them, they still felt real. The friendships that Frankie has throughout the novel are so well done because they too, also felt real and honest. The fact that Garcia chose all of her characters to have problematic parents was a bit overkill and unnecessary. As a whole, this novel left the reader invested enough to read to the end, the ending had a bit of a shock twist that was surprising in a good way, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression.
Glad to know you’re able to work from home in these stressful times <333

Right!? I would have liked it a lot more if it wasn’t for the crappy parents!
