Continuing my journey on my Goodreads challenge. This novel was suggested and I can understand why, now that I’ve read it, and am able to appreciate it, why it was there. If you’re looking for a new novel to read that tries to explain life, and shows life’s greater meanings, this is a read for you.

At first I have to admit I didn’t like this novel, it was boring, and I couldn’t figure out what the point was. It takes a little while to get into, but once you do, I thought it was a great novel.

The Secret Wisdom of the Earth by: Christopher Scotton: Kevin is a fourteen-year-old boy who witnesses the death of his younger brother. From there he is sent to live with his grandfather for the summer in this small town. He meets a boy named Buzzy who becomes his best friend, and together the two of them have to face troubles together. Buzzy witnesses a brutal hate crime, which leads to a narrow escape from death. As much as it is a sad novel, it’s a really well put together novel. The reader really feels for these characters. The author has done a very good job of creating characters that feel dimensional so you can love and hate them. The plotline was great, the reader could never see what was coming, and it wasn’t cheesy. It was well thought out, and practical. Overall, it was a true telling of life, and how unpredictable it can be, that if you look close enough, you can see the wonders, and miracles of it.
