Hello hello everyone, welcome to another novel review. Today I’m reviewing Tom Cooper’s first novel The Marauders. 

This novel was a different type of read, but it was a good different type of read. I haven’t read a novel for a while that had amazing characterization and where the whole novel was based around the characterizations of each character.

Now I’m in the process of actually filming a review for this novel, I don’t know how well that is going to go over, as I’ve never done this before, but I thought I’d try something different. It should be up within the next couple of weeks. I’m a little nervous to show the world it because like I said I’ve never done a video review before. I know if I do it more I’ll get better, but this first one will probably suck.

Okay public service announcement over ha! Here’s my written review of Tom Cooper’s novel The Marauders.

The Marauders by: Tom Cooper: The BP oil spill has left many in the town of Jeanette trying to get back their lives; Lindquist is one of them, roaming the islands for lost treasure. On his way he meets characters who are also trying to get their lives back. Wes, a teenager just starting his life, but trying to figure out how to live after his mom passed, Victor and Reginald Toup, sociopath twins who own a lot of drugs, Cosgrove and Hanson, a pair of potheads who go out in search for an island that they believe will make them millionaires, and lastly Grimes, deceiving the townsfolk on behalf of BP. Together this novel involves all these characters where some interact, and others don’t, but what makes this novel so readable is the characters. The author has made these guys very believable; the characterization is amazing. The novel starts by introducing all the characters and it was great that Cooper took the time to let the reader get to know all them. The plot was good, there were scenes where the reader had to keep reading to find out what would happen, it was very suspenseful, especially close to the end, and other scenes the reader wasn’t quite sure where the novel was going, which made for an interesting read. Overall, if you’re looking for a new novel with great characters, this novel did an incredible job.
