Hi friends, happy Monday I hope you’re all doing well! Today I’m going to be posting my review of the anthology, Disability Visibility that was edited by Alice Wong.

Disability Visibility edited by: Alice Wong: This is a collection of essays shedding light on all different kinds of disabilities, whether they are visible or not. This touched on quite a number of topics that it was so eye opening to read. Some essays were filled with rage; while others were filled with hope and joys; and some who opened up to show the acceptance of their new way of life, all of their stories are valid and need to be heard. Each story was intense in its own way, but they were all really important. There are so many ways in which the world try to hide people with disabilities, as if they don’t exist and this collection of essays is a good starting point to read and acknowledge that they do, in fact, exist and deserve a place in this world. This collection was a great way to show disabled people just simply being and as the editor, Alice Wong, stated in the beginning of this book “These stories do not seek to explain the meaning of disability or to inspire or elicit empathy. Rather, they show disabled people simply being in our own words, by our own accounts.” and this book does exactly that. Highly recommend this to everyone.
