Hi and welcome to Throwback Thursday! Also Happy first day of Fall! I’m very excited, I love fall, it’s such a cozy time of the year. Anyways to kick off this first day of fall, I’m throwing it back to Lauren Kate’s series Fallen.

I read this so long ago now that this feels like another life, ha! I’m going to warn you I’m starting to get to reviews of novels I read almost 5 years ago, so they might not be the best, I try to fix them up, but there’s only so much I can do without reading the whole novel again!

Also I was on Goodreads, and apparently this series came out with, what I’m assuming to be (because I read it on Goodreads) a side novel called Unforgiven.

Fallen by: Lauren Kate: The first novel in the Fallen series where we start off with Luce being sent to a mental school, and she doesn’t know anything about the place. Soon she finds out that the people at the school aren’t who they really are. She meets Daniel where she finds they are star-crossed lovers. The book was set up really well for the reader to feel just as disorientated as the main character, though it seems a lot of novels are doing that. Though the story line was very cute. It’s best to go into the novel and series without knowing what it’s about; it makes for a better story.

Torment by: Lauren Kate: The second novel to the Fallen series. It seems very common that all teen fiction books base around romance, and teen struggle to figure out “the one”, along with the main character having multiple boys after her and she being attracted to them. This seems to pop up in every book and this one is no different. The main character Luce Price has changed schools to be protected by her lover’s enemies, in which he tells her nothing and she breaks all the rules causing a war and she pretty much leaves her lover Daniel. It’s very fast paced the novel, and quick to read. The character development is this novel is alright, not much has progressed yet. This book is for anyone who enjoys teen fiction and other world fantasy.

Passion by: Lauren Kate: The third novel in the Fallen series. In this novel, the main character Luce goes back in time to try and figure out how to break the curse that is put on her and her lover Daniel. It’s a really interesting read to go back in time throughout the novel. That is what kept the reader wanting to read more, what is she going to find in her past lives, and it wasn’t simply just her with Daniel all the time, but it was her in past lives with him and it was really cool to see. The author is trying to define a love that lasts over centuries, and she gets that message across pretty clear in how far back in history she goes. It’s a cute little story, though not the end, there is a twist at the end, but the next novel will be the last that looks to be a good one. Can love really hold through the end of time?

Fallen in Love by: Lauren Kate:  This short novel is part of the Fallen series, but not at the same time. This 200-page novella is up to thereader to read in the series, it doesn’t exactly “fit” in with the storyline. This novella is about the other characters that are seen in the series, but their love isn’t mentioned like the main characters Daniel and Luce. The novella is very sweet and talks about all kinds of love, not just romantic love, but the love of friendship as well. It was short and sweet about the other characters who contributed a lot in the main plot of the series, and this was just a little sidebar on their loves on Valentine’s Day.

Rapture by: Lauren Kate: The final novel to the Fallen series. This is the novel that ties up our story of fallen, and archangels. About Luce and Daniel and their love through many, many lives, and how it never dies. It’s the end where they chose Heaven or Hell. Where Luce remembers who she truly is in Heaven. It’s all very beautiful, though the author could have used less words, she got the point across in a certain amount of words, then added more for some unknown purpose. Aside from the rambling the author portrayed love in a beautiful way that was fresh to read.
