Hello, Happy Monday! Today I’m going to be reviewing Stephen King’s novelย It.
Not only am I going to be posting my review of this massive book, but I also want to celebrate a little. This blog post marks my 400th post! ๐ย Holy that is a lot of posts! Here’s to the next 400!
It by: Stephen King: Nothing is alright in the town of Derry, Maine. Children have started to go missing and die and itโs the people around and related to them who are affected. Seeing their deepest fears in It a group of seven kids decide that they need to beat It. Over the span of roughly 30 years something brings all of them back to Derry for one last hurrah, and it is time to beat It once and for all. This novel had one hell of a plot; completely creepy and utterly terrifying, King has created a masterpiece of pure terror. The plot was entertaining and frightening, but thatโs what propelled the reader to go further into the depths of this story, and there were many depths. The story wasnโt told in chronological order which threw the reader off at times, trying to figure out what year it was, and if the characters were children or adults. That was a little jarring, but it enhanced the story a lot because it led to our introduction to our characters in the best way possible. These characters were so well done; King gives them so much back story and development as the years pass in the novel that they feel so real, they could just walk into the readerโs life. Itโs amazing how much detail was put into every aspect of this novel, from locations, to characters, to what characters were doing, it was all so calculated, yet thrilling to read.
It is my favourite Stephen King book that I have read so far and one of the ones that scared me the most! I never did like clowns, but this book definitely made me dislike them even more. Great review! ๐

I agree! This book actually scared me. Like I don’t scare easy, but I started to see things and jump at nothing after reading this!

This is my favorite Stephen King book too! I loved the friendship between them all as kids. I could have read nothing but their antics. It was great. I can’t wait for the movie.

Great review for this book Meghan, also congratulations on publishing your 400th post! I’m sure before you know it you’ll have reached 800 posts on your blog!
I’ve never read this book before, or any of Stephen King’s horror books, but I did see the film and honestly it scarred me. I can never look at clowns in the same way again but I can see why the book would be even better! ๐

That’s all right. Ahh, I know that feeling, posts do tend to creep up without you realising it don’t they?
I can’t say I’d recommend the old movie, too scary for me, but you’d probably enjoy it Meghan! ๐

Hi! So a while back I asked for questions for a future Q&A, but you probably donโt remember, and thatโs perfectly understandable (because I have a terrible memory myself). I just wanted to drop a link to it on your blog, so you would know I answered your question! Thank you! ๐

Yay for 400 posts!!! It’s surprising how quick it is to reach high numbers.
I really need to read more Stephen King (I’ve only read Carrie), but I am TERRIFIED of clowns. Every time I see the IT clown anywhere I honestly want to cry hahaha so I think I’ll be skipping this one ๐. Glad you enjoyed it though. Great review, Meghan โฅ

It really is, like where did it all come from!
I love Stephen King and will read him every once in a while because after a while everything starts to sound the same. But I would definitely recommend the Shinning (duh!) but also his Bill Hodges trilogy (Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, End of Watch) was SO good, also 11/22/63 was also very good! ๐
Thanks Lauren! ๐
