Hi, welcome to another blog. Today I’m going to be reviewing Maggie Stiefvater’s The Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. I think more wildly known as the Shiver trilogy.

I know I’ve been gushing about Amanda Hocking’s writing, but I adore Maggie Stiefvater’s writing even more. I read this series years ago, and I just fell in love. I fell in love with her smooth characters and her graceful writing style. I just love her novels. I’ve read them all, I’m on my way to reading her spin-off novel to this series, and that’s why I thought I should post this today.

I know that novel, Sinner, came out over a year ago, and it’s been on my list to read, but I’m actually getting to it! I also must add that this is one of my favourite trilogies!

Shiver by: Maggie Stiefvater: The first novel in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. Everything you ever knew about werewolves is just thrown out the window. When Grace was attacked when she was younger, Sam saved her, now it’s time that she save him. It’s definitely a teenager love story, but it’s a cute love story where the two of them know they can’t be together, but want to be together. The novel’s plot has these moments where the reader doesn’t know what it going to happen, and kept guessing until the end. Once the reader finds out what is happening, it’s then that you are thrown through another loop and you have to wait for the next book. The writing was good and it kept the reader reading until the very last page.

Linger by: Maggie Stiefvater: The second novel in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. This time around Sam has become human, but his girlfriend Grace has the awful fate of becoming a wolf. Throughout the whole novel we don’t know, as the reader, what will happen, but what we do know is that something will happen to Grace. This novel was a little harder to read than the first novel. The author made emotions strong, and details were crystal clear, which made it very readable, and very enjoyable to read but it just had this lagging feeling towards it. The plot, more so than the characters, didn’t really develop much, everything felt like it was at a standstill, and not much really changed from this novel to the first. This novel didn’t have the same pace as the previous novel.   Overall, it had a good plot line and followed through, but otherwise fell short of the first novel.

Forever by: Maggie Stiefvater: The last novel in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. We come to the conclusion as to what happens to the wolves, as well as what happens to Sam and Grace, though the ending is uncertain about Grace. The reader has a sense of what will happen to her, but it’s not guaranteed. This novel doesn’t feel like it’s the end of a series, but it feels like the beginning of one! You’re still left with many questions. The novel had many details so you could picture everything happening in the story which was nice, but too many clichés were used, and you could see “once upon a time” used way too many times throughout this novel. But it was definitely way better than the second novel, things moved a lot more quickly, and nothing lagged behind. The plot grew and developed, and so did the characters. Overall the trilogy was cute and a little something different, though the ending could have been done better to leave the reader less confused, it was still a good trilogy.
