State of Grace – best opening book in a series

Scythe by: Neal Shusterman

Holy, this trilogy was something else – I loved it so much! So unique and different, and I think I read somewhere that there could be a fourth novel in this now series? Colour me intrigued!

Red – a book that makes you feel a whole spectrum of emotion

Firekeeper’s Daughter by: Angeline Boulley.

Wow, this book made me feel happy, sad, angry, grief, woof the breaks I had to take when I got near the end. This was such a heavy, yet, important book – 100% recommend!

Treacherous – a slow book that you ended up loving

The Song of Achilles by: Madeline Miller

I’m going to use this book here because this was such a slow book for me; it took a long time for me to really connect with the story and to figure out the point, but the writing was so, so beautiful. I didn’t quite love this (that ending, say what?!) but I appreciated the layers of gorgeous writing.

I Knew You Were Trouble – a book you knew would be bad and ended up being bad

Rage by: Richard Bachman

I knew this was going to be bad, as a book that is no longer in print, I expected nothing less and it delivered on that front. God, this story was just garbage. I guess for the time this was first written it might have been something new (it’s about a school shooting) but even the characters and the story was just trash – it made me rage!

All Too Well – the book that has stayed with you the most

The Secret of a Heart Note by: Stacey Lee

I know I only read this last year, but it’s a book that I think about often because it was so unique in premise and the story was just really sweet.

22 – coming of age book

The Black Flamingo by: Dean Atta

This book, wow was this ever intense, but it was such a good, good story of coming of age; probably my favourite one!

I’ve had this on my shelf for… quite a while now. This was supposed to be read when my friends started a book club… but then we never actually read the book for the book club and it never really got started, but that aside I haven’t picked this up and I really want to. Here’s looking at you, 2022!

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by: Jenny Han

I want to re-read the whole trilogy because I loved it so much and the movies were so good! It’s funny people didn’t like the last movie as much as the first two and I’m the complete opposite that last movie is my fave!

Stay Stay Stay – a book everyone dislikes but you love

I don’t have an answer for this one, I can’t think of a book everyone dislikes that I love… I’m sure there is one… but it’s not coming to me!

Nightblood by: Elly Blake

This was the final in the Frostblood trilogy. I didn’t care for the first one, but the world building intrigued me, the secone was SO good and this one was a good ending, but not as great as the second book. I don’t think I’ve ever loved the second book in series the most before.

This was actually really hard to find a book with any of these words in the title, thank you Goodreads. I read this series years ago, I’m pretty sure I enjoyed it, but it’s not something I feel I need to revisit.

I wasn’t sure how to read this prompt – like glamorous fame or famous people? So I went with famous people, although I don’t know how ‘famous’ the Kopp sisters are but they were real sisters and their adventures in these books are based on real events… this is a stretch I realize, but I’m going with it.

Everything Has Changed – a book that changed how you view something

This had me seeing villains from a new perspective and I loved it – I also just wanted to use this book in one of the prompts 😂

Starlight – a book that makes you feel warm and cozy and magical

This book was like a nice warm blanket; I loved the world and the plots and the characters. It wasn’t the best book ever, but it gave me such warm feelings!

Probably because this book made me so hungry, being in a cafe would be a good place to be while hungry. Also I’d read any book in a cafe, on a Wednesday!

I honestly don’t have an answer for this question. I don’t feel like I’m betraying my favourite book, author or character when I read something else I love. Just more to love.

I’m being so basic here… it’s the only thing my brain can think of right now. Part of me wants to re-read these books because I don’t really remember what happens in them… but I do remember I liked them.

Babe – a book where a character gets cheated on

Autopsy of a Boring Wife by: Marie-Renée Lavoie

I don’t know how I could have forgotten about this book! This is the classic tale of the husband leaving his wife for a younger woman and the woman picking up the pieces of her life. What I love about Diane is that she’s so witty and I love following her stories!
