Review: The Forbidden Wish

Hi guys! Happy Wednesday! I hope the last week of September is treating you all well! 🙂 Today I’m going to be reviewing Jessica Khoury’s novel The Forbidden Wish.

The Forbidden Wish

The Forbidden Wish by: Jessica Khoury: It all starts when Zahra’s jinni lamp gets discovered by a boy from the streets, Aladdin. This leads Zahra back to a world without magic and a place her existence is illegal. Now having to disguise herself to stay alive she comes across the King of the Jinn where he offers her, her freedom, but at what cost: her freedom or Aladdin. This story was so wonderfully told; it was colourful, it was whimsical and it was magical. Khoury paints this beautiful picture and re-creates these characters that we all know. This retelling took the story we all know and turned it around giving it a fascinating and interesting spin. The plot was fully engaging and overall a fun reading experience. This story was a fast-paced love story with action and adventure caught in between. The characters were well developed and watching the two main characters grow closer to each other was entertaining and palpable. This is definitely a novel to check out for its cute romance and adventure.

  1. Great review Meghan, it seems like you really loved this book. I have The Forbidden Wish on my TBR list and I really want to get around to it soon. I love fairytale retellings and there aren’t many Aladdin ones as is so honestly I’m not sure why I haven’t read this one already. 🙂
