In honour of the new movie coming out in a week, I thought I should re-read the story I fell in love with as a child, Roald Dahl’s The BFG.

The BFG by: Roald Dahl: The story of Sophie, a young girl who lives in an orphanage. One night she spots a strange figure out her window; it turns out to be a giant. Afraid for her life, until she finds out how friendly he is, but not all giants are friendly. The others all eat human beings; it’s up to Sophie, the BFG, and her majesty the Queen to save the human race from being eaten by these giants. It’s a beautifully crafted story that is hooking and engaging from the moment it starts. The writing is so colourful, and the words that Dahl makes up are hilarious and full of child wonder. This novel takes the reader out of this world and into a fantasy. This is the type of novel that can be read over and over again and never get tired of hearing.
