Top Ten Tuesday: Favourite Book Quotes

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday, I’m back at it again with another Top Ten Tuesday. Today’s topic is: Favourite Book Quotes. Let’s get into it! 🙂

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s topic is Favourite Book Quotes

  1. “Live! Live the wonderful life that is in you! Let nothing be lost upon you. Be always searching for new sensations. Be afraid of nothing.” The Picture of Dorian Gray by: Oscar Wilde.
  2. “Sometimes writing is running downhill, your fingers jerking behind you on the keyboard the way your legs do when they can’t quite keep up with gravity.” Fangirl by: Rainbow Rowell.
  3. “Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday you’ll meet a boy who will learn your favourite flower, your favourite song, your favourite sweet. And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won’t matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart.” Six of Crows by: Leigh Bardugo.
  4. “Secrets are like bullets. Ditto the dark, personal stuff. Folks say they’ll take’em off yer hands, share the burden, but really they just load ’em into their own weapons so they can use ’em against you later.” Retribution Rails by: Erin Bowman.
  5. “When you don’t have time to be afraid, I guess it’s easy to be brave.” The Curiosities by: Maggie Stiefvater.
  6. “People who wade into discomfort and vulnerability and tell the truth about their stories are the real badasses.” Rising Strong by: Brené Brown.
  7. “You feel a little bit lost right now about what to do with your life, a bit rudderless and oarless and aimless but that’s okay… That’s alright because we’re all meant to be like that at twenty-four.” One Day by: David Nicholls.
  8. “Queenie: People are easiest to read when they’re hurting.” Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by: J.K. Rowling.
  9. “Eddie discovered one of his childhood’s great truths. Grownups are the real monsters, he thought.” IT by: Stephen King.
  10. “The error all women commit. Why can’t you women love us, faults
and all? Why do you place us on monstrous pedestals? We have all feet of
clay, women as well as men; but when we men love women, we love them
knowing their weaknesses, their follies, their imperfections, love them all
the more, it may be, for that reason. It is not the perfect, but the imperfect,
who have need of love. It is when we are wounded by our own hands,
or by the hands of others, that love should come to cure us – else what use
is love at all? All sins, except a sin against itself, Love should forgive. All
lives, save loveless lives, true Love should pardon. A man’s love is like that.
It is wider, larger, more human than a woman’s. Women think that they
are making ideals of men. What they are making of us are false idols
merely. You made your false idol of me, and I had not the courage to
come down, show you my wounds, tell you my weaknesses. I was afraid
that I might lose your love, as I have lost it now.” An Ideal Husband by: Oscar Wilde.

And that’s all for me. Do you agree? Disagree with my choices? Let me know! 🙂

  1. Great quotes for this week’s topic Meghan. I love Six of Crows, and love the relationship between Kaz and Inej even more, and Fangirl is one of my favourite YA contemporaries as well. I really need to read more of Rainbow Rowell’s books now I think about it. 😀

    1. Thank you Beth! 🙂 When I read that quote the first time I knew I loved it because of how true it is!
I’ve only read a few of Rainbow Rowell’s books, I’ve liked the ones I’ve read, and I just feel like I don’t need to read anymore from her… I don’t know. I sound like I don’t like her writing, I do, but other than Fangirl, nothing has wowed me.
