Hi friends! Happy Thursday, I hope you’re all having a great first week of Fall! 🍃 Today I’m going to be posting my review of Jessica Cluess’ novel A Poison Dark and Drowning.

A Poison Dark and Drowning by: Jessica Cluess: Everyone wants a piece of Henrietta, but all she wants do is save her friends and family. Thought to be the chosen one to take down the Ancients she must now play the role to stay safe and to keep her best friend Rook safe, but Rook has different demons to face. Revealing secrets, facing monsters and fighting for love all to get to the truth. For a second novel, this had a lot going on; although at first this novel started off slow with very little plot movement or character development, but as the reader got through the first third of the novel, things started to move. The surprises and twists and turns that happened shocked the reader and kept them fully engaged. The betrayal and deception that we saw in the first novel continued in this one and intensified. After the beginning, it was hit after hit of different storylines amazing the reader. The characters were so well written; Henrietta was again such a force to be reckoned with, but her alongside new and old characters was so good. We learn of new revelations that really strengthen Henrietta as a character. For the old characters, it was such a journey to read, and the new characters were so important and gave life to the story. This overall story is far from over and the reader is excited to see how it all ends. As for this novel, again for a second novel it didn’t fall under the second book syndrome; this book beat to its own drum and it was a lot of fun to read.
