Review: Pip Barlett’s Guide to Magical Creatures

Hello everyone, happy Monday! To kick off this week, I thought I’d start with a little kid fiction, because isn’t that always fun? This is the first novel in a soon to be series by authors Maggie Stiefvater and Jackson Pearce.

Pip Barlett’s Guide to Magical Creatures

Pip Bartlett’s Guide to Magical Creatures by: Jackson Pearce & Maggie Stiefvater: The first novel in Pip Bartlett’s series. Pip is your average kid who has a talent; she can talk to magical creatures. This leads her to trouble, she is sent to stay with her Aunt Emma, who is a vet to magical animals, after an incident with a unicorn. The town has an infestation of Fuzzles, pests who catch fire. Pip, with her new friend Tomas, help to solve the mystery as to where they came from, and help to save them. The novel was very inventive and creative, and the cute drawings in the novel really helped bring the novel come to life. Although the plot lacked a little with it’s predictability, and unoriginality, what made up for it was the originality of the characters and the magical creatures. It’s a good children’s novel, with its exciting creatures, but this isn’t a novel worth the time.
