Review: Orbiting Jupiter

Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday! Today I’m going to be reviewing Gary D. Schmidt’s novel Orbiting Jupiter.

Orbiting Jupiter

Orbiting Jupiter by: Gary D. Schmidt: When Jack meets his new foster brother, Joseph, he doesn’t know much about him. Over the course of the time they spend together, whether that be forced or not, the two learn things about each other and Jack starts to realize he’s got Joseph’s back. How so much emotion can be packed into such a little book is mesmerizing and completely brilliant. Schmidt’s storytelling is beautiful and his writing is so poetic; everything has this flow to it and it just gets to the reader. The way he writes a lot of things so mysteriously and ominous is good, but used too much it does start to get stale. The ending was a punch to the gut because just as you really start to love these characters and see them love one another, it’s taken away. Besides that, this was a very well told story of two boys who learn to become brothers.
