Review: Eliza and Her Monsters

Hello everyone! Happy Monday! Can you believe we are days away from Christmas?! I can’t! I hope you’ve all gotten your Christmas shopping done! πŸŽ„πŸŽ Today I’m going to be posting my review of Francesca Zappia’s novel Eliza and Her Monsters.

I can’t believe this is my last review of 2019!

Eliza and her Monsters

Eliza and Her Monsters by: Francesca Zappia: Eliza is the great mastermind behind popular webcomic, Monstrous Sea. When she befriends the new kid at school, Wallace, who she finds out is a huge fan of the comic, she debates if she should tell him. When her identity is accidentally revealed, things take a sudden turn and everything she’s built for herself start to fall apart. This novel was cute, it was heartbreaking, it was relatable, but it was fun and engrossing to read. The plot was mesmerizing; it was really easy for the reader to pick up and fall into. The pacing was really good and the fact that it was not only in prose form, but also chats and comics really helped break up the story. Not only that, it helped the reader to get an understanding of the characters and what was going on in the story. The characters were so well rounded and dynamic; they were so relatable and they brought so much colour to the story. Between main and supporting characters, they were all interesting and really added and gave depth to the novel. The title of this novel is so clever. It has a double meaning that really reflects the overall plots and themes, which was brilliantly done. Overall, this was a wild adventure that is so worth reading.
