Hello! A bonus post from me! Today I’m going to be sharing my thoughts on Andy Black’s album The Shadow Side.

Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of new music (or some that is new to me), so look out for a few other reviews. This album was released May 6, 2016.

I do have to say it’s been a long time since I’ve fallen completely in love with an album, this is so good!

Andy Black- The Shadows Side: Andy Biersack, lead singer of Black Veil Brides, debuts his first solo album, and it’s catchy as hell. From the first dreary notes of Homecoming King, to the last faded drum note of The Void, this album is everything fans want and more. This album exceeds expectations, as it’s nothing like his stuff in BVB; it’s much more poppier, take his first single We Don’t Have To Dance, a pure pop anthem with rock elements in there to make one of the catchiest songs on the album. The runner up for poppiest song is Ribcage, the chorus is sung almost in the form of a chant, making the listener just want to stomp their feet, and sing. Love Was Made to Break slows the album, but definitely not to a stop; it’s almost got a Fall Out Boy-esque vibe to it in the chorus, (that is FOB of the present). Drown Me Out, Biersack’s true deep voice breaks out, and it fits with the chant-like mood of the song. Paint It Black starts off daunting, and a little melancholy, but the chorus breaks out and the pop element is back, it almost shifts and sounds like a different song when he sings the lyrics “it’s just another night”. Louder Than Your Love sounds like a rock song that could have come out in 2006, it has this My Chemical Romance almost influence; although that could be the influence of Mikey Way (the ex bassist to MCR)  who played on this track, and Gerard Way (ex vocalist MCR) helped to co-write the song. Last but not least, the album ends with The Void, which starts off as piano driven, but soon the drums crash and Biersack is crooning to his audience. The lyrics on his album are all pretty dark, and speak of heartbreak; where his inspiration came from is a little baffling since he just got married, but wherever these lyrics are coming from they sooth the soul of any emo kid.
