Review: Ghosts of the Shadow Market

Hi everyone, happy Monday! Today I’m going to be reviewing Cassandra Clare and friends Ghosts of the Shadow Market.

Ghosts of the Shadow Market

Ghosts of the Shadow Market by: Cassandra Clare: This novel that contains short stories of the Shadow Market throughout the centuries, with one constant, Silent Brother Zachariah or Jem Carstairs as he’s known to some. The reader gets to go down memory lane with this as each story touches on past series or trilogies that Clare has written in the past. That is what made this a wonderful companion, the reader got to visit and see characters they may not have read about for a while. It was also nice to read side stories about them, to keep the reader in on what characters have been up to between books; it was a nice little bonus. The plots varied, some were truly cute and heartwarming and kept the reader invested, whereas some felt slightly out of place. Some felt like they were written for the reader just to please them because it didn’t feel relevant to any plot. It wouldn’t be surprising if some of those stories were a foreshadowing to her upcoming trilogy. As for this collection, it was good, it was engaging, and it was filled with characters the reader knows and loves; the message about love and acceptance was also really well incorporated into all the stories, which was nice to read about. This collection is a must-have for fans of Clare’s work.
