Hello friends, happy Friday and happy first day of May! ☀️I’m feeling good today, the sun is out and work was surprisingly OK for the first day all week, small wins right? Today I’m going to be talking about and wrapping up my first ever O.W.L.S Readathon!
I’m so happy that I decided to partake in this readathon this year. With everything going on in the world right now, this really gave me something to look forward to!
Let’s start by saying I passed my O.W.L.S!
I’m very proud of myself!
So to recap my career that I chose was Librarian:
So I had to pass 5 O.W.L.S:
Ancient Runes
Arithmancy
Defence Against the Dark Arts
History of Magic
Transfiguration
Now, as I mentioned in my sign-up post, with the library being closed it was hard to find books lying around my house to fit the prompts, but I think I did a good job!
✅Ancient Runes: heart rune: heart on the cover or in the title.
I read Heartless by: Marissa Meyer and I completely loved it! SO glad I read this!
✅Arithmancy: magical qualities of number 2: balance opposites/read something outside your favourite genre.
I feel like there are quite a few books I read this month that could fit this prompt, but the book I chose was Oliver Twist by: Charles Dickens. Oh boy, was that a hard read for me. I thought I was going to really like the adventure and plot, but I just found it dense and hard to keep track of everything.
✅Defence Against the Dark Arts: Grindylows: book set at seas/coast.
This was a hard one for me as I don’t have any books set at sea/coast on hand at home. I had to borrow this from my brother, Lord of The Flies by: William Golding, and this was an interesting read, and probably something I never would have read if it weren’t for this prompt.
✅History of Magic: Witch hunts: book featuring witches/wizards.
So, I went into this thinking A Shadow Bright and Burning by: Jessica Cluess was about witches; the first few chapters mentioned the main character thinking she was a witch… turns out she’s a sorcerer. Even though I read this, I didn’t think I fairly completed the challenge so what did I do? I pulled out Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Slytherin Edition). It was so much fun to be back in that world!
✅Transfiguration: Animagus lecture: book/series that includes shapeshifting.
I stuck to my read of Chain of Gold by: Cassandra Clare. I think I mentioned this in one of my WWW Wednesdays that I’m always surprised how much I fall into her books and love them; this book was no exception.
There you have it! My first ever O.WL.S was a huge success! 😃
Did you participate in the readathon? Did you complete your O.W.L.S? Let me know! 😀

Woooooo you passed! I sometimes feel like I’m missing out on all these great readathons… but then I remember I basically act all James Dean rebellious at the thoughts of sticking to a TBR and prompts… 😂😂😂😂

Haha, thank you! 😀
Bahaha James Dean, nice! It’s never too late to join a readathon. It took me 4 years before I participated in one! 🙂

Oh I used to do reading challenges with my book group… which although not quite the same I still lump them altogether in the messy cupboard that Emer dares not open anymore 😂😂😂😂😂
