Review: Lilac Girls

Hello, and happy Wednesday! I hope you’re all having a good week! Today I’m posting my review of Martha Hall Kelly’s novel Lilac Girls.

Lilac Girls

Lilac Girls by: Martha Hall Kelly: Set during World War II, three women who all lead different lives cross paths with one another in unremarkable ways. Caroline, Kasia and Herta all have different versions of the war, and as the years pass more and more secrets accumulate until they can’t be hidden anymore. When books are based on real events that always makes plots seem thicker and characters stronger; this novel was no exception, the plot was real and raw. It took readers on this journey during and after the war. The characters were also intense and full of life, even if they weren’t the most likeable. The way the three main characters’ lives circled around each other was well done. The ending was also fantastically put together; not only did the reader feel how final it was, but it was definitely closure for the characters and that spoke to the reader. This was a very emotional roller coaster of a novel. Great for fans of the historical fiction genre.
