Still waiting for the conclusion to this almost 20 years later…

Night World No.1

Night World No.1 by:  L.J. Smith: The first volume of the Night World series world contains three stories: Secret Vampire, Daughters of Darkness, and Spellbinder. Each have their own plot, but a plotline that is closely similar. In the first story, Poppy is a human, who finds out that her best friend is a vampire, and the two of them find out they are soulmates, but vampires can’t love humans. In the second story, three sisters Kestral, Rowan, and Jade are new to town, where their aunt has been killed, and whoever killed her new she was a vampire. Ash their brother comes to make sure no humans figure out what is happening in this town, but it’s too late two humans already know. Ash, and Jade both find their soulmates are humans and don’t know what they can do about it. In the third story, Thea and her cousin Blaise are new to the school, where they both fight for the same human crush Eric, who turns out to be one of the girls’ soulmates’. The stories are entertaining and have to do with vampires, witches, werewolves, and shapeshifters who live among humans. The whole soulmates thing is cute and funny to read about. Sometimes the author switches points of view on the reader and it gets confusing who’s view your seeing something in, but over all the first volume was really well written, and had a plotline that kept you reading.

Night World No.2

Night World No.2 by: L.J. Smith: The second volume to the Night World Series, is just like the first in many ways. All night world creatures, including werewolves, vampires, witches and shapeshifters, are falling in love with humans. This volume is broken into three stories as well, Dark Angel, The Chosen, and Soulmate. In Dark Angel, Gillian is just an average girl, but when she almost dies and has a guardian angel, her whole worlds is turned around. In The Chosen, Rashel is a vampire hunter and it is her job to hunt down all vampires, but what happens when she falls in love with one? Then in Soulmate we meet Hannah who is an Old Soul, she dies, but is reincarnated, and her soulmate is obviously a vampire. In this story all the characters from the past five stories start to come together, and possibly in the next volume we’ll get to see what they’re up to. Overall the stories were well told, and the writing wasn’t bad, but it was predictable. You can tell after five stories what is going to happen. Maybe in the next volume it won’t be so obvious!

Night World No.3

Night World No.3 by: L.J. Smith: The third volume in the Night World Series. In this volume, the three books include Huntress, Black Dawn, and Witchlight. In the stories it’s not all about finding their soulmates this time around. In Huntress, Jez finds out the truth about herself, in more ways then one as she tries to find the Wild Power. In Black Dawn, Maggie, a human, finds herself in the night world; as well as finding out her soulmate is one of the four Wild Powers. In the last book, Witchlight Keller is a shapeshifter who is on the hunt for the Wild Power. In this third volume the Wild Powers are people with special powers who will fight in the millennium war, yes this book was written in the 1990’s. Overall the stories were interesting, and were written with more suspicion to make the reader keep reading. How this series will end is all that’s left, and readers are waiting!

  1. I remember these books! I also remember waiting for the longest time to read the last one…. 😉 I guess it’s just not going to come out. But your reviews made me realize that the books were connected by theme, which I did not see before. Thanks! 😀
