Hello friends, happy Monday! It’s very dreary and cold outside today, I guess it’s a good thing I’m not going anywhere 😅 A month ago was my last day working in the office, sometimes it feels like years. I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe!
Today I’m going to be posting my review of Traci Chee’s novel The Reader.
This is the first book her Sea of Ink and Gold trilogy.
The Reader by: Traci Chee: Sefia is living life on the run after her father is murdered with her aunt Nin, that is until her aunt gets kidnapped. Now, the only thing she has to go by to find her is this mysterious thing called a book. Learning to read, she learns so much about not only how to find her aunt, but her father’s past, and about herself as well. This was a captivating read. The beginning felt a little info-dumpy, but after the first few chapters it became less info and more of a story. This novel really resonated with the reader, as the book is all about being a reader and the concept was really well done and utterly fascinating. The plots were so much fun to explore. The highs, the lows, everything was enchanting to read. The writing was so good and left the reader in awe of the story. This was fast-paced and was completely engrossing, leaving the reader unable to put it down. The characters were interesting and full of life, Chee left readers wanting to know more about them, and hopefully they will in the books to come. This was a great start to what is hopefully going to be an amazing trilogy.
This sounds interesting! I’ve never heard about this book or the series before. Where did you even find it?? 🙂

It was SO good! Totally recommend if you love fantasy and reading (duh!).
Goodreads! So, I’m waaaaaay behind on my TBR… like 2016 behind, and this was in a Goodreads email, which is where I find the majority of my books!
