Professional Troublemaker

Professional Troublemaker by: Luvvie Ajayi Jones: In her second self-help book, Jones takes a look at fear head on and gives her readers a step by step guide on how to fight fear. Whether you’re just starting out on your fear fighting journey or looking for a reassuring push in the right direction, this guide gives readers an easy break down on the course of action they can take for any situation. Jones added personal anecdotes to give perspective and to help relate to her readers. This read like a beautiful love letter to her grandmother, as she was the first fear fighter Jones ever knew. It also gave a feeling of keeping her humble and that even though she’s written this that her work isn’t done, we all have to continue to fight fear every single day. This was written really well, Jones has a voice that is very distinct; it’s serious, yet spiced with comedy to give it a flare of drama that leaves us wanting to read more. This book wasn’t as funny as her first book, but there were still moments that had the reader laughing and nodding along. Not only did this provide lessons, it also provided affirmations for the reader to remind us to be our authentic selves even when the world tells us not to be. The structure was thought out and made coherent sense when reading it in chronological order; it flowed in a way that made each step doable one after another. This has such re-readability to it because there were so many lessons and reminders that could be taken away from it that serve as constant reminders for us; we are never going to be perfect, but we can always try to do better as people.
