The Cliché Book Tag

Hi guys, happy Thursday! We’re almost through another week. I hope your first week of July is going well. Today I’m going to be doing the Cliché Book tag. I was tagged by my friend Jenna @Bookmark Your Thoughts. Thanks girl! 😀 If you haven’t started following Jenna, you def should she’s as sweet as cotton candy! ☺️

Alright, let’s get to the tag!

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

|| A Book That Wasn’t Or Couldn’t Be Better Than The Movie ||

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

That book was so long and so much happened and it was the turning point for all the characters and the movie just didn’t capture it well. Don’t get me wrong, I still loved the movie, but there was so much that was missing that felt should have been included. To me, that was the movie that should have been split in two.

THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE

|| A Rags To Riches Or Riches To Rags Story ||

Ooo. I think I’m going to have to steal Jenna’s answer for this because The Hunger Games is a really good answer.

THE APPLE DOES NOT FALL FAR FROM THE TREE

|| A Parent Child Relationship That You Love ||

Recent read of mine: Lily and her mother from P.S. I Love You by: Kasie West. Both her parents are hilarious and I just love the relationship she has with her mom, and her family in general. They are all very present in her life, it feels almost more so than her friends, which was a first.

YOU CAN’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER

|| A Great Book That Needs A Better Cover ||

Out of the 800+ books I’ve marked as read on Goodreads, questions like this never get easier to answer.
I have to say that a lot of non-fiction just don’t have appealing covers. I don’t know why, is it because it’s about real events that there can be no creative covers?
I haven’t read non-fiction for a hot minute but my last read: Grunt: The Curious Science of Humans at War by: Mary Roach, was such a good read… the cover… I never would have picked it up based on the cover.

YOU CAN’T PLEASE EVERYONE

|| A Book You Hate That Everyone Loves ||

I’m going to say Caraval by: Stephanie Garber… I’m not even talking about Legendary or Finale, but strictly Caraval. Everyone was so in love with it, but I just thought it was alright. I bought it thinking it would be amazing, and it just wasn’t. I ended up just getting the second two from the library… and of course I absolutely loved them.

WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU MAKES YOU STRONGER

|| What’s A Book That Made You A Better Person For Having Read It ||

This is such a hard question because I read so much every year and I feel like every book I read makes me a little more of a better person. I know there isn’t always a takeaway from each book, but sometimes you can always find a positive to each book. I think I’m going to leave it there because I just can’t think of one exact book.

LOVE IS BLIND

|| A Book With A Disabled Character Or Actual Blind Love ||

Not if I See You First by: Eric Lindstrom. This is a contemporary about someone who is blind, and it was such a good read.

IGNORANCE IS BLISS

|| A Book That Is Bad But You Just Don’t Want To Admit It ||

I know Twilight is bad, and I’ve been ranting about it on Twitter, but I still find myself re-reading it… why I don’t know. I’m currently in my third re-read…

THERE IS NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT

|| What Is Your Favourite Contemporary Book? ||

One of my last favourite contemporary books I read, is Georgia Peaches and Other Forbidden Fruit by Jaye Robin Brown. This was a queer book I didn’t know I needed. I loved it to bits.

BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY

|| A Book You Don’t Want To Read In Case It’s Bad ||

I’m going to say The Night Circus by: Erin Morgenstern. Everyone has told me it’s an amazing novel, everyone loves it, but what if I don’t? I don’t know if I want to find out. I’m sure one day I will read it, but for now it’s on my ever-growing TBR.

    1. Right?! It would have been perfect to have 2 films so that we could really get the school year and the triwizard tournament have equal prominence!

I totally recommend this book, so insightful and hilarious at the same time! 😀

  1. Thank you for the compliment and great post! I 100% agree with The Goblet of Fire … I honestly think it’s my least favourite film because it changed so much. I know they couldn’t possibly fit everything but I feel as though they could’ve focused on different things. I still liked it though 🙂

YAS! Katniss! Love that sassy and independent woman!

I haven’t read the Caraval books yet but I don’t know if I will at this point. I might try the first at the library and see what I think.

LMFAO! I laughed so hard at that Twilight GIF because it matches your comment to a “T”!! Too gooooood.

I just added “Not if I See You First” to my TBR now 🙂 I want to read more books with main characters who have disabilities after reading Emmons’ “100 Days of Sunlight”.

    1. Always! ☺️
That’s how I feel about Goblet of Fire, it just could have been so much more, but it is what it is. I wouldn’t want it to be remade so I’ll live with what we have.

Yeah, I should have just taken them all out from the library, but you live and learn right? The trilogy is still really good and worth reading! 😀

Haha! I tried really hard to find a good Twilight gif… you’d be surprised how hard that is! 😂

Oh Not if I See You First was a really good novel! I really enjoyed it so I hope you do too! I haven’t read 100 Days of Sunlight, was it good?

      1. Oh yes … I feel like Harry Potter is one of those films that just can’t be remade … or I at least HOPE they don’t … it’s like them trying to remake LOTR … can’t happen.

LMFAO! I struggle finding the perfect GIFs but it’s a necessity!!

I added it to my TBR now 🙂 100 Days of Sunlight is beautiful! I reviewed it in June and fell in love. It’s very language focused, like the way it’s written and poetic like.

      2. God, if they tried to remake them I’d cry!!!

It is! If you don’t get the right gif it’s just all over 😂😂

Nice! Ohhh that sounds really good; I love books that are written poetically!

    1. You’re welcome!
Oh haha! I’m glad to hear. Many people have reached out to me to tell me they are enjoying my tweets, which I never thought would be the case so I’m glad it’s sparking a lot of love! Thank you! ☺️☺️
