Hi everyone! Happy Friday! 😀 Today I’m going to be reviewing the movie Love, Simon which I got to see last Friday before it left theatres!
Love, Simon: Simon has a secret… he’s gay, but he doesn’t know how to tell anyone; instead he resorts to an online blog where he finds a kid who feels the very same way he does. This sparks a conversation with the mysterious Blue. This leaves Simon trying to figure out who Blue could be, while travelling down the path of self-discovery. This film was absolutely adorable; with each scene it got better and better. This film really shows the importance of being who you are and not being afraid to be who you are, even if you want to be afraid. It showed the power of acceptance and the power of friendship, family and love. This film will make you laugh, it will make you cry, but it will definitely make you smile. That has a lot to do with the acting; boy this cast sure know how to play with the viewer’s emotions. Watching Simon struggle is hard, but seeing the love his parents, his sister and his friends show him makes it all worth it, and seeing these actors bring these characters to life was something special. Plot-wise the storytelling was very well done; it didn’t feel like a two-hour movie because the entire time you’re trying to figure out who ‘Blue’ is. This film is that sweet contemporary, feel good movie that everyone craves every once in a while.
I sooo wanna read the book!! I like the two leads in what I’ve seen them in recently so it’s definitely made me eager to watch the movie!

This movie was exactly the type of movie I love. I saw one of the screenings and it was so awesome hearing everyone’s laughter, gasps, and awe’s throughout. The entire crowd clapped and cheered and squealed at the end 🙂
Did you read the book? If so, what did you think of the changes?

It was great to see in the theatre for those exact reasons. I did read the book, but if I’m being honest, I don’t remember what the changes were. I read the book over two years ago. I feel bad saying it, but I did love both mediums! 🙂

Haha yeah, I think I recognized all the changes because I read the book like the day before I saw the movie lol

Great review for this film Meghan, and I’m so so glad you enjoyed it as well. Love, Simon is a film I still need to see but I want to watch it ASAP because I’ve been looking forwards to it’s release for ages. I love the book and I know (largely based on the positive things I’ve heard to date) I’m going to love the movie as well! 😀 ❤

I’m really glad to see that you enjoyed the movie! I have been hearing many amazing things about it. I definitely NEED to read the book first, before actually watching it. Since I already own it I’m hoping to read it relatively soon. Great review! 😀

Sometimes I think it’s better to not to reread the book before I see the movie, that way I’m not spending too much time comparing.
