Review: Leaving Time

Have you ever read a Jodi Picoult novel? If you have, it was probably My Sister’s Keeper right? That heartfelt book that left you in tears. And if you haven’t read any of her novels, this is where you should start. I can’t even begin to describe to you how incredible a writer she is. Not only is this story great, it’s so factual that you’re drawn in…

I hope that if you’re reading this review that you decide to read this novel. I’m glad I did.

Leaving Time

Leaving Time by: Jodi Picoult: Jenna is a thirteen-year-old girl searching long and hard for her mother who she feels has abandoned her. Ten years ago an incident occurred at an Elephant Sanctuary and her mother was either killed that night, or she fled. Jenna gets the help from a psychic named Serenity and from a retired detective named Virgil. Together they help solve the mystery of where her mother is, but they solve an even bigger mystery as the story unfolds. There are many facts about elephants, and the author uses them to relate to human grieving, it’s simply brilliant. Not only is this novel suspenseful until the last page, it’s also very informative on elephants and their behaviours. The ending throws readers for the biggest loop of their lives. It’s something completely different and completely original. The characters and the story are so well thought up and so well put together; Picoult is definitely a mastermind at creating a masterpiece. Overall, just read the novel, it’s worth it.
