Review: News of the World

Hello everyone, happy Monday! So, it dawned on me today that I’ve lost count of how many weeks I’ve been at home somewhere along the way. I thought this was the start of week 8… it’s actually 9 😅where are these weeks going? It snowed today and that just makes me sad… I hope everyone had a good start to the week! Today I’m going to be reviewing Paulette Jiles novel News of the World.

News of the World

News of the World by: Paulette Jiles: Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd travels around, reading from newspapers, the news of the world to anyone who is willing to pay and listen. At a stop in Wichita Falls he is offered money to return ten-year-old Johanna back to her relatives in San Antonio after her parents have been killed. Though the journey isn’t easy, the two form a bond that will help decide both of their futures. This novel was very well written and an overall great read. From page one Jiles captivates her audience and keeps their hold throughout the entirety of her, mind you short, novel. Even though this novel is short, it packs a punch of two unexpected characters who cross paths and truly care for one another, absolutely beautiful storytelling. The characters Jiles has created, although based on facts, were some of the most thought out and lovable characters. The journey that the characters go through to bring them closer together is truly heartwarming. This novel will make the reader go through a rollercoaster of emotions in a short time, but it’s all worth it.
