Hello friends, happy Monday! I hope you’re all doing well. Today I’m posting my review of Rin Chupeco’s novel The Heart Forger, the second book in her Bone Witch trilogy.

The Heart Forger by: Rin Chupeco: Tea is done with hiding and she’s now ready for vengeance. Ready to take her revenge, she’s halted when people want to plot and use her dark powers against her. She must show strength and fight against them in order to get what she wants, even if it’s not the easiest path. This was a great follow up the Bone Witch and really gave more space to the world and to the characters. The world building definitely opened up and the reader really appreciated the depth in which we’re starting to see. The descriptions were so well written that the reader felt so encapsulated in the world. The plots in this novel were non-stop and fast-pasted. There was always something happened or starting to happen that it was never a dull moment and there was always a sort of tension that was so well done. Even the side romance plots the reader was living for; they were so good. The only thing that got a little confusing were the back and forth with the present and the past. Each chapter had two points of view and at first it was a little unclear that, that was how this story was being told. But once the reader got really invested in the story, it all started to flow together. We got to see different sides of characters this time around and that really brought out new sides and character growths that were gripping to read about. Tea is such a strong, flawed character and to see her grow was just so heartwarming. We’re left to wonder where things are going to go in the final book in this trilogy. The way this one ended leaves a lot to be desired and the reader isn’t sure they’re fully ready for what Chupeco has up her sleeve. As for this novel, this did not fall victim to second book syndrome and was pleasantly surprising and maybe even better than the first novel.
