Monthly Wrap-Ups

November 2019 Wrap-Up

We have officially entered Holiday mode, and the Christmas season is upon us! ๐ŸŽ„ย How November just flew by, I have no idea, but here we are! Now that I got that out of the way ๐Ÿ˜… it’s that time of the month to recap what went down, let’s get into it!

If you missed October’s wrap up, catch it here!

Currently Reading:
The Shining

I’m continuing my re-reading ofย The Shiningย for my Stephen King project; I’m SO close to finishing, like SO close, and the anticipation about finishing it is real. The ending has really picked up pace, I’m having a hard time just reading two chapters a week and not reading it all.

The Outsiders

At the beginning of the month I started my re-read, and buddy read with Jenna @Bookmark Your Thoughts on The Outsiders. I have to say this re-read has been so much fun because I honestly don’t think I felt the same way when I read this at 13 than I do now. This has been such a harrowing tale, that still boggles my mind a teenager wrote this!

Eliza and Her Monsters

Technically, at the time of posting this I have finishedย Eliza and Her Monsters, but as of November 30 I was still plowing through it. This novel was such a sweet book, I enjoyed every plot twist and adventure that the main character went through, good or bad. I feel like I just breezed through this because it was just so good!

What I read this month:

I read a total of 8 books this month, not bad. I know my Instagram game has been kinda off, but I’m trying my best to get back into it again!

Commonwealth by: Ann Patchett
Every Falling Star by: Sungju Lee
You Know Me Well by: Nina LaCour & David Levithan
How to Hang a Witch (How to Hang a Witch #1) by: Adriana Mather
The Killer in Me by: Margot Harrison
Haunting the Deep (How to Hang a Witch #2) by: Adriana Mather
Where Am I Now? by: Mara Wilson
Tales of the Peculiar (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children #0.5) by: Ransom Riggs

Book Reviews this month:

The Crown’s Game & The Crown’s Fate by: Evelyn Skye
A Gentleman in Moscow by: Amor Towles
Commonwealth by: Ann Patchett
Every Falling Star by: Sungju Lee

Currently Watching:
Season 4

So because I finished Fresh Prince last month I needed a new sitcom to watch. If I’m being honest, I don’t really care for what’s on Netflix anymore so I may suspend my account, but until then I did start watchingย Arrested Development. I have to say, when I started this show, I couldn’t stand the characters or any of the plots… but I continued to watch it because I like having something in the background as I blog… and here we are 4 seasons in. I actually find myself watching the show… instead of blogging, haha! I also want to say that season 4 was taken over by Netflix and it has such a different feel, that I don’t know if I’ll make it, but we’ll see.

Season 2

Castle Rock is still continuing to amaze me. I find with each week I love the show a little more. Even though I don’t know all the little Easter Eggs that are provided I still very much enjoy it. I’m sad that this season is going to be ending soon

Season 3

The Good Doctorย is still continuing to entertain. I have to say I’m surprised that it hasn’t gone on hiatus yet. If I’m being honest, this show is starting to irritate me because I look at doctor shows and compare them all to ER now ๐Ÿ˜… but I find this show goes waaay too hard on the patients and their stories, rather than focusing on, you know, actual medicine. Like what doctor is going to leave mid-shift to chase down a patients ex-husband who they haven’t talked to in decades? It’s just really unlikely situations that frustrate me. Okay, rant over.

Season 3

I started watching season 3 ofย The Crown. I’m half way through the new season and like previous seasons, some epiosdes are better than others. I find his show can have such an entertaining episode, then such a dull one. I also feel like this season is really jumping around a lot. I don’t remember the past two seasons jumping through years as much, but that could just be my memory failing me. It’s definitely still very intriguing, and it always blows me away that this stuff actually did happen.

Season 36

I can’t forget aboutย Jeopardy,ย but if I’m being honest I’ve barely watched a single episode this month. I’m usually very diligent about watching this every night, but recently I’ve just not been feeling it. I sometimes just skip it, or watch the hockey game if there’s one on. Maybe December will be my month I get back into it!

What I Watched this month:
Holiday in the Wild

I started my Christmas movie watching early this year. I spent some time at home this month, and just for the hell of it I decided to watchย Holiday in the Wild. This is what happens when Netflix starts playing trailers when it opens. I saw the trailer and thought it looked cute, and yes it was cute. Not only was it cheesy, and of course you knew exactly how it was going to end, it really (for me) made you think about what your passionate about. Definitely recommend for light easy watching.

Season 1-3

Like I mentioned above, I’ve really started to enjoy this show. The show may be really stupid at times, but man I find myself so engrossed… I’m watching it as I type this now and I keep gettingย soย distracted, ha!

Season 6

How to Get Away With Murderย has gone on fall hiatus… I can’t believe it’s already that time of year… so far the show has been on this rollercoaster of events. All the intermittent plots are getting crazy, I just want to know how all of this is going to go down. That fall ending was interesting, it just leaves me with more questions… now I have to wait until April! APRIL! for the last 6 episodes!

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

I had some time off mid-November so rom-coms happened. I’ve never seenย How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, I know, I know I’m late to the party, but I watched and I enjoyed. I was trying to clean my bookshelf with this on, and well that went out the window… all I could do was watch this.

Falling Inn Love

Keeping up with the rom-com theme, I finally watchedย Falling Inn Love. After being on my list for months, I decided to finally watch it. This was as cheesy as I knew it was going to be, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It was great to just sit back and watch.

Season 9

I finished season 9 ofย ERย and wow- this season went through a lot. Not to say that other seasons haven’t, but it just felt like a lot went down. I can’t wait to dive into the next season.

Season 4

This is Usย is now on its winter hiatus, and the way they ended the fall finale, just wow. Just when you thought this show has covered everything, ohhhh no it hasn’t. I’m so curious where the second half of the show is going to go.

Season 16

Grey’s Anatomyย is also on hiatus, and again, the way they ended it. Who is this new Scottish character and why did Christina send him? I have so many questions. Does that mean DeLuca is going to go bye-bye, because I can SO do without him. SO many questions!

Season 4

The Good Place, that fall ending too! Chidi, my god! I cried through pretty much that whole last episode. I swear anything to do with Eleanor and Chidi I die. I love them SO much. Now I need to know if he’s going to save the afterlife!

Season 4

I’m now all up-to-date on the new season ofย Riverdale. If you ask me, I don’t know why I still watch this show, but I still do. It’s still as bad as it’s ever been, but I can’t help hating on it because I love doing that. This season has a bit of who dun it vibe, as one of the main characters is dead and we’re trying to figure out who did it, but they’re playing the story backwards. It’s a whole lot like How To Get Away With Murder structure their murder plotlines.

I have to say, after October being such a crummy month for me mentally, I went into November not really expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it felt a cloud had cleared over my mind and I felt joy again. I won’t say that it was all rosy, I still had my cloud covered days, but the feeling of joy every once in a while felt good.

My month started with a breakfast date with my dad.ย ๐Ÿ˜‹ย We went to Cora’s a well known breakfast place in Canada (I don’t think it’s branched out into the US). As you can see I had the best of both worlds, blueberry pancakes and eggs and bacon โ˜บ๏ธ

My brother and I went out to go and buy something yellow to wear to a concert because the following weekend we both went to see The Maine! This was my fifth time seeing them, and it was just so much fun. No matter how many times I see them, they manage to surprise and make me feel alive; their music is just so relatable and honest, I love these boys so much โค๏ธ

The following week was my birthday… in which I got sick ๐Ÿ˜‚ย I don’t get sick often, so that sucked royally, but at least it was just a small cold, and not a full blown cold or flu.

I did celebrate my birthday, I’m still in shock by all the outpouring of love, not only in real life, but here on the blog. You all just blew me away with messages, so thank you ๐Ÿ’ž

The night of my birthday I went out with my family for dinner to a restaurant called Milestones. I had the Spicy Asian Noodle Bowl, it had chicken and shrimp (although not enough pieces of shrimp if you ask me… what is 5 pieces? I’m being completely honest, I counted!) The meal was still really good.

The following weekend I hung out with my fab 5 crew, as well as my oldest friend and my brother. We went to the Rec Room for dinner and then to play the arcade games. It’s always a lot of fun when we go. It’s always good food and drinks with great company. I didn’t take any photos because I was just too busy enjoying the moment!

That following week, I went to work for 2 days and took the rest of the week off. I just needed a break. I didn’t do anything quite exciting. I stayed home, read and watched movies. The only cool thing I did was on the Friday of that week I went to see City and Colour with my brother. It was a great night, and I always enjoy listening to him sing.

Another big thing that I did was change my Twitter handle! After 10 years (I still can’t believe it’s been over 10 years, like that’s a decade!) I went from @miiloh (which I picked when I was 15 and thought sounded cool) to @whimsicalmeghan. I really wanted to be @whimsicallyBony… but it’s 2 letters too long for the 15 character limit on Twitter, who would have thought?! Not me, but I thought I’d announce that!

I ended my month on a bang as we had family come over and we ate and drank, and ended up dancing into the night, it was quite the evening and the perfect send off to November!

Now we’re into the Christmas season! I hope you all had a great November! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I’ve been trying to “plan” my xmas gifts, but idk… I remember in 2017 I bought and wrapped all the xmas presents before December! THAT was a good xmas prep ๐Ÿ˜€

Season 1 was okay I guess, I didn’t particularly love it, and didn’t hate it either. Lol
