Review: The Speaker

Hello everyone and happy Thursday! I hope everyone is doing ok! It only took 7 weeks from working at home to have VPN issues, that’s got to be a record! 😛 Today I’m going to be posting my review of Traci Chee’s The Speaker.

This is the second book in the Sea of Ink and Gold trilogy.
You can read my review of book one, The Reader

The Speaker

The Speaker by: Traci Chee: Sefia and Archer have escaped the Guard with the Book, but it won’t be long before the Guard comes looking for both the Book and Archer. Together the two travel across Deliene recruiting boys to battle against the Guard. At the same time Sefia is obsessed with what secrets the Book holds about her, her family and Archer. This novel, much like the first was action packed and fast paced and the writing was just as beautiful as the first. The reader found it easy to fall back into the world that Chee has created. The plots this time around were good, but felt a little lackluster compared to the previous book. The reader didn’t care too much for the budding romance between the two main characters, even though it blended in with the main plot, this sub-plot just didn’t do it for the reader. Archer’s story was really interesting to read about and it was great character development; watching Sefia grow as a character was also a lot of fun too. All the mysteries surrounding the Book and all its secrets was such a thrilling plot and it made for wonderful character development. The reader is anticipating an exciting finale to this already fascinating and gripping tale.
