Review: The Schuyler Sisters Trilogy

Hi guys! Happy Wednesday! Today I’m going to be reviewing Beatriz Williams’ Schuyler Sisters trilogy.

The Secret Life of Violet Grant

The Secret Life of Violet Grant by: Beatriz Williams: When Vivian Schuyler receives a package in the mail from an unknown source, the contents of this suitcase start to unravel itself as she goes on the hunt to find the owner, Violet Grant, a long lost relative. This was one heck of a story, or two stories that come together. Williams’ writing is brilliant. The reader doesn’t see all the twists and turns coming and that makes the reading experience so enjoyable. The way this was laid out was really well done, slowly unraveling a mystery. The only thing that got to be troublesome was the two main characters both had a name that started with a V, so points of view got confusing, especially when every chapter switches views. Williams’ characters are so well put together; they are so strong and brave, especially for the time periods they lived in. At first all the extra romance scenes didn’t seem to add anything to the story but as the reader progressed through the novel it became clear why she felt the need to add it. This was captivating and well worth the read.

Tiny Little Thing

Tiny Little Thing by: Beatriz Williams: Christina Schuyler, also known as Tiny, is the good daughter and sister, always has been. When she married Frank, a political leader the two made the perfect, good couple. But Tiny has a secret, and that secret is now resurfacing in the form of blackmail; now Tiny must figure out what to do, be the good girl she is supposed to be, or do the right thing, because sometimes those aren’t the same thing. This novel didn’t ramp up until close to the end; it started off slow and with a lot of mystery surrounding what was up with Tiny. Once the reader knew all the facts things started to make sense and the plot just took off. This was more amazing storytelling from Williams; her writing just really wows the readers because they just don’t see any of it coming. The transformation that the main character goes through just might be the best part of this novel. The choices Tiny had to make really developed and grew her character and it was so good to read. It was also good to hear mention of past characters in this novel, as this is a novel series of sisters, which leads to the ending that felt more like a prologue to the next book, which of course gets readers excited as it looks to be just as good as these past novels.

Along the Infinite Sea

Along the Infinite Sea by: Beatriz Williams: Pepper Schuyler has gotten herself in a situation she can’t get out of, she’s having a baby. She fixes up an old Mercedes which gives her the money she needs to get by, only the owner of the car, Annabelle Dommerich, shows up with secrets of her own, dealing with Nazi Germany. Williams is at again; her storytelling just shines in this novel. Not only can she tell a good harrowing tale of long lost love and fleeing the war, she can combine that through generations. The way the story bounced back and forth was good, so good that by the time the reader got to the end of each chapter they were left speechless and wanting more. Plots thicken, and it’s just a rapid paced novel. Williams characters are these amazing, strong, independent women who are witty, sharp and overall fun to read. Even though none of her stories intermingled and each novel in this trilogy could be read as a stand-alone book, it was still nice to see references of other characters, and past plots. These books were each equally captivating and so well told.
