Review: Uglies

Hello friends, happy Thursday! How is today only Thursday? That’s how I feel today, work has slowed down and now my days seem to stretch on, and on, and on ๐Ÿ˜…
Today I’m posting my review of Scott Westerfeld’s novelย Uglies.

This is book number one in his Uglies series.

Uglies

Uglies by: Scott Westerfeld: In a world where turning sixteen means getting an operation to turn โ€œprettyโ€ in order to look like everyone to erase racism, sexism, and classism so that everyone is equal, lives Tally Youngblood. Tally is so ready to have the surgery, that is until she meets Shay and learns about the Smoke. Now Tally is conflicted, and the more she learns the more conflicted she gets. Will she, or wonโ€™t she get the surgery? This novel was a whirlwind of an adventure. The twists and turns that the reader doesnโ€™t see coming truly take their toll as Westerfeld takes the reader on a journey. Not only are the plots really well thought out and really well crafted, the writing is stellar too. Itโ€™s a completely captivating and enthralling read, and to imagine if this were to happen in our world today is definitely a scary thought. The characters at first feel a little two dimensional, but as they grow and develop throughout the story they become more rounded and weโ€™re curious to know more about them and what theyโ€™re all about. This world that Westerfeld has created is something that the reader wants to explore more of, and canโ€™t wait to in the next instalment.

      1. Did they sneak into a party or into the place with all of the pretty people near the beginning? For some reason I keep stopping there but I always know I’ll go back to it because I’ve given away so many books and have wanted to keep that one ๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. I loved this book! It was so good… it’s really unfortunate how the series is going downhill though… I would totally recommend the first book though! ๐Ÿ™‚
