Hello friends, happy Monday! Today I’m going to be posting my review of Robin Talley’s novel As I Descended.
As I Descend by: Robin Talley: Maria and Lily are super competitive, but so is the school’s most popular girl, Delilah. The Kingsley Prize is coming up and even though Delilah could take down anyone with just a stare, what she doesn’t know is Maria and Lily are willing to do absolutely anything to make their dreams come true, even summoning dark powers. Filled with ghosts and supernatural this novel had so much potential, but it just fell flat. The overall plot was interesting and kept the reader invested, but the conflicts felt over the top. The reader could tell that this was supposed to give off thriller vibes, but it felt amateurish and just ended up not being thrilling at all. The whole ghost plotlines were interesting, but it just didn’t do it for the reader, it felt really clichéd. The characters felt like Talley was trying to fit her characters into boxes and that ended up making her characters feel like caricatures of people. It made it hard for the reader to want to read about them or to relate to them. Overall, the plot was fast-paced, but was a disappointing read.
Great Review! I’m so sorry it was a disappointing read honey, I removed this one from my TBR a while ago and now I’m glad I did, I think it was the best decision 😊

Right?! I’m glad my review was, more or less, a warning, haha! I just wish it hadn’t been so fit the mould!
