Review: The Real Doctor Will See You Shortly

Happy Monday! Although today is cloudy and grey boo.
Today I’m going to be taking another route into my non-fiction reading reviewing Matt McCarthy’s book The Real Doctor Will See You Shortly.

I’m really starting to love non-fiction because it’s so fascinating to read!

The Real Doctor Will See You Shortly

The Real Doctor Will See You Shortly by: Matt McCarthy: A non-fiction tale of Matt McCarthy in his first year as a medical intern. From mess-ups, to deaths, to an incident with Hepatitis C, this book takes on what it’s like to be an intern at a major hospital. On top of that it’s about the guidance, and the people you meet along the way that impact your life. McCarthy’s quick-witted writing style made this book jump off the page, and with elements of suspense the reader doesn’t know will happen to his patients, and at times McCarthy himself. It was such a captivating read, with stories that will make the reader shake their head and wonder ‘is this really true?’ Although there is that saying that truth is stranger than fiction, and this book is testament to that. It really puts into perspective what students of medicine go through once they are faced with the real world. The pacing of the book was really well done; that is what made it so hard to put down. This is definitely a book to read because it’s not only eye-opening, it’s also purely entertaining, and fascinating.
