Review: Ever the Brave

Hi friends, happy Monday! Today I’m going to be posting my review of the second book in the A Clash of Kingdoms trilogy, Ever the Brave by: Erin Summerill.

You can read my review of book one: Ever the Hunted

Ever the Brave

Ever the Brave by: Erin Summerill: Once Britta saved the King, she’s been tied to him by her Channeler powers. King Aodren wants to make her a noble lady for saving him, but all she wants is to live in peace. But that’s easier said than done when there are evils out there hunting her for her powers. Britta needs to learn to weld her abilities in order to not only save her life, but the lives of the country. This was just as fast-paced and action-packed as the first novel. The plots saw new highs and lows and the characters really went through quite a bit too. The overall story was really well told and it was really exciting to see what was going to happen next. There never seemed to be a dull moment, each chapter had the reader wanting more, and the fact that the chapters were short made it so easy to fly through. The love triangle that the author was trying to start felt really out of place at first, but as the story went on, the reader could see why it was created. That shift in the plot brought new dynamics to the characters and it genuinely shook them up and really tested relationships. That was great development to read and to see these characters try and figure out what they want, truly great writing. There were also additional characters who added a lot to this novel and really brought the story to life. The ending was sweet, and felt very final so the reader is curious as to what the final novel in this trilogy has to offer. All in all, this was a great second novel that not only had adventures, a lot of action and battle, but incredible character developments.

  1. I’m glad you enjoyed reading this book! Years ago I read so much YA fantasy that when I got to this book I was frustrated. All those bows & arrows in every book that reading this one didn’t seem original. All that travel back and forth in the forest bored me so I didn’t read book 2. Awesome that you loved it 😊

    1. I can totally understand that. After a while things start to blur and sound the same. I’m sorry that you couldn’t enjoy this series because of that. Thank you, I did really enjoy this! 🙂
