The Untold Story by: Genevieve Cogman: Irene wants to learn everything she can about Alberich, her possible birth father. So, when the Library wants him dead, and he signs a truce, she must figure out what he did to betray the Library in the first place. Time travelling through worlds, sifting through myth and folklore leads her to revealing why the Library was ever created. This final novel was just as action packed and full of adventure as the previous seven novels have been. The plots were just so ingenious and original that the reader can’t get enough of them. The stakes felt at an all-time high and Cogman really put her characters through one last wringer. So much happened in what felt like such a short amount of time; so many secrets exposed and truths learnt, there was a lot to take in but it left for some surprising and exciting storytelling. The plots took us to new places once more; every time we get to explore multiple worlds within this world it is so thrilling. The writing was so beautiful, especially when declarations of love were being said. The reader didn’t see that ending coming, but they were really happy with how it all turned out. These characters got a happy ending and it felt like they deserved and earned it after everything they’ve been through. The relationship between Irene and Kai got even deeper than it’s ever been and the reader was there for it. We even got to see more from the secondary characters, which was nice because they really add to the story and round the world and make it whole. This was such a great ending to a series that has been whimsical and highly captivating.
