The Lost Plot

The Lost Plot by: Genevieve Cogman: Irene and Kai accidently find themselves in the middle of a dragon contest in the 1920s. A young Librarian has found himself caught in the conflict and if Irene and Kai don’t help him, there could be a serious cost to pay. Now, racing against the clock and dragons fighting gangsters and blackmail, they must obtain a rare book in order to set things right. The stakes felt a little higher this time around and the reader enjoyed all the plots ups and downs. The time period in which the characters jump to in this novel was a fun, 20s setting, giving it an extra added layer of intrigue. Characters start to play roles as a new mission is under way. With each passing novel we learn more about the dragons and it’s so interesting as we dive deeper and deeper into this world. The world building is really starting to come together and it makes for such an exhilarating read. What also makes these novels so exciting is that the reader never knows what is going to happen or where the characters are going to end up. The way this novel ended had the reader gasping out loud and in shock with the final twists and turns that were in the last few pages. Cogman kept it thrilling until the very end, which left excitement for the next book. This wasn’t quite fast-paced, but it wasn’t too slow either, which let the reader take in the story and get to know the new characters and to get reacquainted with the familiar ones. Together, with the addition of the new characters it took the plots to new highs and brought out new sides to the characters we already know, testing them like they’ve never been tested before. This was another fun instalment in this series and the reader can’t wait to see what comes next.
