Hi friends! Happy Monday – I hope you’re all keeping well. Today I’m going to be posting my review of We Are Still Tornadoes by: Michael Kun and Susan Mullen.

We Are Still Tornadoes by: Michael Kun & Susan Mullen: Cath and Scott have been best friends since they were kids, growing up across the street from one another. Now that high school is over, Cath is off to school out of state and Scott is set to work at his father’s store. The two decide to keep in contact through the form of letters. Set in the early ‘80s, this novel follows the budding relationship of two best friends as they’re apart for the first time in their lives. The plot was good; it’s definitely a plot that’s been done before, but what made it great was the way it was told. This story was told in the form of back and forth letters and the authors did a great job of not only giving the two main characters a voice, but also all of the side characters too. The descriptions in the letters were so detailed that it felt like the reader was right there alongside each character. Even though we never got any dialogue, the letters were strong enough to hold the story and emitted emotions. The way this novel ended was a little predictable, but it was fun to read the progress and the journey it took to get there. The characters were really well rounded and they were really likeable. The two main characters were honest and sincere with one another, even through the tough times, and that’s really what left an impression on the reader. The secondary characters were fun to read about and were really effective additions to the story. This novel had its emotional ups and downs, but overall was a fast-paced and enjoyable read.
