Weekly Update #43 ๐Ÿ”ฎ

Hello friends, happy Friday and welcome to my Weekly Update!

Currently Reading:

The Bachman Books; 66% of the way; I’m continuing with Roadwork, short chapters this week and it was all just build up to where the plot is going and Bart has to sit with what he’s done. I’m looking forward to see where things go.

Lastly, I’m reading Lost in the Never Woods by: Aiden Thomas. I like how we jump right into the story in the first chapter, but the next couple chapters have been slightly slower, but I’m curious to see where this goes.

What I’ve Read:

Last week I finished A List of Cages by: Robin Roe. I honestly didn’t really expect much from this, I don’t know, I went in thinking not much and wow was I smacked in the face with how much emotion was in this!

I also finished American Street by: Ibi Zoboi. This was such a well written and character driven story, I really liked the characters they were funny and fierce and bold, just everything I love in characters. Their stories were rich in culture and I really like it.

Lastly, I finished Wires and Nerve by: Marissa Meyer. This is a graphic novel spin off to the Lunar Chronicles and I was blown away by how much I loved this. It was so fun to be back in the world, all the plots were so well done and the art was incredible. Can’t wait to pick up the second volume!

Goosebumps Books:

Welcome to Dead House I read this as an audiobook and I couldn’t get into this story on audio โ€“ it really brought out how cheesy these books are โ€“ it was a good concept, but it was alright.
Why I’m Afraid of Bees This one was interesting, again a fun concept, with an ending I didn’t know how it would play out.
Bad Hare Day This had a fun concept and plot, but the ending felt really unresolved and that bummed me out
Egg Monsters From Mars Again another one with a not so stellar ending, but it was filled with some heart pounding fear
The Beast From the East This one got really repetitive, really quickly. After a while I got bored and then when it came to the end, it again didn’t feel resolved
Say Cheese and Die โ€“ Again! I was looking forward to this one because Say Cheese and Die has been one of my fave Goosebumps books… this was nothing like the first; it was awful, full of inconsistencies from the first and full of bullying and fat shaming, no thanks
The Girl Who Cried Monster I liked this but I didn’t like the ending; it felt to rushed and over explained because it came out of nowhere.

Kristin @Kristin Kraves Books recommended some witchy reads โ€“ another great list because I need to read more witchy reads

Joce @The Quiet Pond posted her review of When You Were Everything by: Ashley Woodfolk โ€“ I love, love, love this book and this was a great review

Marie @Hurricane and Drizzle Books posted tips on taking care of yourself as a content creator โ€“ great advice… that I should follow

Kate @Your Tita Kate posted a list of vampire books to sink your teeth into โ€“ I love vampires and I’ve been meaning to read more vampire books

This week has been really quiet for me. Nothing new or exciting… I went out with my brother to help him find a Halloween costume, he’s going to a party dressed as a pirate. Aside from that it’s been work, watching the Leafs lose (ugh) and continuing on with my slight obsession with Star Trek.

What I’m watching:

Chapelwaite; season 1. We’re nearing the end of the season and the town is now splitting into two sides as more bad things keep happening. I’m curious to see where this is going to end because it can’t be good.

The Good Doctor; season 5. This came back after a week off and I’m still not sure what this new manager of the hospital is trying to prove. She let’s a father with a slight medical background treat his daughter… because that’s wise… the doctors aren’t even allowed to work on people they’re close with due to emotions… but okay… I mean it turns out in the end, but it was rocky. I kinda like the Morgan/Park relationship, they are oddly cute.

YOU; season 3. I’m only a few episodes into this but watching suburban Joe is fascinating. So is Joe as a father, what trip it is to watch him talk to the baby and take care of it. I’m curious to see where this season is going to go.

Star Trek: Enterprise; season 1. I’m slowly plugging away at this… and slowly becoming obsessed with this. I knew that if I liked this that meant that it wasn’t well liked and yep, I was right about that. This is ranked one of the most disliked in the Star Trek franchise because apparently it doesn’t feel like a Star Trek show (and maybe that’s why I like it? Also I read it was created with the intent to gain more of an outside audience… well it worked for me).

What I’ve watched:

Midnight Mass; limited series. I feel like this took longer than it should have to finish all 7 episodes, but I got there. It did pick up and for the most part, I did enjoy it. I think I enjoyed theorizing what was going to happen more than anything else, but it was an interesting take on death and the power of God’s love… with a spooky twist.
