This novel I have to say was pretty good. I don’t have many complaints about it. I can see why it was compared to Gone Girl, but Gone Girl was just messed up, let’s get into this…
This novel wasn’t as messed up as Gone Girl, but it still had it’s moments. I couldn’t figure out who was the bad guy. It doesn’t help that the author doesn’t reveal all the information until the end so you can’t possibly know until the end. I thought that was crummy, but overall, very crafty I must say.
The Girl on the Train by: Paula Hawkins: Rachel is a drunk who takes the train every day, and every day she passes a house where she makes up stories of the people who live there. This couple lives on the same street as her ex. One night Rachel finds herself on this street, but she can’t remember what happened due to being drunk. That same night the girl from that house, Megan, goes missing. Rachel feels it’s her duty to help solve the case because she has made up stories about the couple. She ends up complicating everything until the very end. This novel is a very addicting novel; once you start you don’t want to put it down. It’s very suspenseful, and the reader comes up with a lot of theories, but it isn’t until the very end when the reader has all the information, can you reason out the novel’s ending. It was extremely well thought out, the characters were fully rounded and the reader had a love/hate relationship with the main character Rachel. It was definitely different sort of novel, with the main character being a girl on a train, but overall, it was really well done and really well worth the read.
