Monthly Wrap-Ups

July Wrap-Up

…a.k.a my first wrap-up ever! Hi guys! In the three years I’ve had this blog I’ve never done a monthly wrap-up ever. The inspiration for this new addition to this new segment was from Lilly @Lair of Books and her May Wrap-Up. I was reading her wrap up and it gave me inspiration to start my own. I know, you’re asking why didn’t I start in June then? The answer to that is I simply wasn’t quite ready to jump right into it; I needed time to think out how I was going to set it up because as I’ve noticed, everyone does it differently.

Okay, after this long-ass intro let’s to my July.

Currently Reading:
The Son of Neptune
Carrie
Purple Hearts

I just started the Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan; this is my newest book that I’ll be reading a chapter a day (I really like to read children/middle grade fiction that way). I know I’ve mentioned it to a few people on the blog that I’ve started a Stephen King project. Basically my project/challenge to myself is to read all of King’s work, but I’m only reading a chapter a week. I’m in this for the long haul, but I’m finding I’m appreciating his work a lot more. I’m reading his books from the first publication date to the last so yes I’ve just started.
I also just started reading the final book in the Front Lines trilogy: Purple Hearts.

What I read this month:

I read a fair amount this month. 9 books is quite good! It started to die down a bit by the end of the month because that’s when my plans really picked up… and then I got sick, so I’m proud of what I read.

Soldier Girls in Action (Front Lines #1.5) by: Michael Grant
A Reaper at the Gates (An Ember in the Ashes #3) by: Sabaa Tahir

Truthwitch (The Witchlands #1) by: Susan Dennard

Currently Watching:

I’m still trying to make my way through Bob’s Burgers. I’m at season 4. I thought I would get through it faster, but I love this show and I want to preserve it. I started watching Kim’s Convenience because I needed something to watch when I was sick; plus I like supporting Canadian content. It’s actually a really good show. I started watching Castle Rock this past weekend; I am SO hooked! If you’re a Stephen King fan, definitely worth the watch! I’m also watching season 5 of Elementary. I’ve been watching that show since it premiered and I’m quite invested in it. The new season has my heart melting!

What I Watched this month:
Season 2
The Incredibles 2
Season 2

Season 3
Season 1
Les Choristes (The Chorus)
Maria Full of Grace

Kinsey

I watched a bunch of stuff this month. I finally finished season 2 of the Crown. You’ll hear more of my thoughts when I post my TV Tuesday about it, but the small and short of it is I liked it, it just took a while to get into. I got out to the movies, sadly only once, but I saw Incredibles 2 and it was everything I hoped it to be, my review. I finally watched the second season of Nailed It. That show is just too much! I’ve continued with Bob’s Burgers; I started watching it on a whim a few months ago and I slowly going through all that Netflix has to offer. I started Kim’s Convenience. I binge watched the first season, and I’ll be watching season 2 soon. I chose to do another Oscars challenge and the year I picked was 2005 and so Les Choristes is on that list; great film and I realized I’d already seen it in French class in high school, it was nice to re-watch and revisit. I also watched Kinsey and Maria Full of Grace; both were amazing movies!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 1
Brooklyn Nine Nine Season 2
Brooklyn Nine Nine Season 3

This month has been wild. It started off pretty lo-key, but as the month continued my summer plans started to take full effect. Right in the middle of the month me and one of my best friend’s headed out to Niagara Falls. It was a great time and you can read all about my trip here.

Then two days later me and my brother went to the last Warped Tour. It was bitter sweet, but you can read all about the good times here, and see all of the good times here.

I hope you all had a fantastic month.

I also hope you enjoyed reading this wrap up. I may do one for August 🙂

  2. Oh I think it’s great you’re doing monthly recaps now Meghan. I started mine when I started my blog and I think overall it’s just a good way to end and round off the previous month. 🙂
You got through some great books, I can’t wait to read A Reaper at the Gates myself and oh The Love That Split the World is an all-time favourite of mine so I really hope you enjoyed it too.
Also I love Bob’s Burgers, and I can understand why you want to preserve the episodes you still have to come. 🙂
Great post, and I hope you have a brilliant August as well. 😀
