Happy Birthday Me: 28

Hello friends, happy… Saturday! I’ve never posted on a Saturday, but since this has become tradition on my blog for the last couple of years, I couldn’t not post today. Today is my birthday (yay!) so I’m going to look back at the past year at the good, the bad and the ugly. πŸŽ‰

Last year I categorized this in good and bad, this year I’m just going to go in order of the past year. Let’s see how much I remember πŸ˜…

πŸŒ™ I had a pretty good 27th birthday even if it was a quarantine one – I got my hair cut and saw my two best friends on my front porch

πŸŒ™ I started recording more videos on Instagram, which I’m proud of

πŸŒ™ I wasn’t going to talk about COVID, but how can you not? I also wasn’t going to admit to testing positive for it because it feels shameful to say, but I’m going to because it did happen. I had COVID, it was a very mild case, which was good; it was like I had a cold, runny, stuffed nose – the only difference was I lost my smell and that was really strange for me.

πŸŒ™ Felt super anxious and paranoid about going out

πŸŒ™ I started to take more photos… my Instagram game is going strong

πŸŒ™ I started making lattes at home (thanks to a new Keurig with a frother) and using food colouring to make the milk a fun experience

πŸŒ™ I baked a little (more so in the beginning of the year… I’d really like to get back to it)

πŸŒ™ I made dough from scratch, that was a mission but I’m happy I tried that

πŸŒ™ Started to finally read more Canadian books (I’m almost through all 15 2021 nominated Canada Reads books!)

πŸŒ™ Felt totally frustrated by the state of the world and the no direction

πŸŒ™ My coworker and friend dropped off a bullet journal (… that I have yet to use πŸ˜…)

πŸŒ™ Got obsessed with making iced lattes… even with chocolate milk

πŸŒ™Actually took my bike out… even if it was for a few bike rides πŸ˜…

πŸŒ™ Watched the Leafs blow another playoff year… there’s always next year right? πŸ˜…

πŸŒ™ Saw my two best friends after months of not seeing them and went to sushi where they deliver it to your car… that was an experience… never again

πŸŒ™ Went to the beach for the first time in years with my two best friends

πŸŒ™ Got fully vaccinated and bought concert tickets to my first concert since COVID in the same week

πŸŒ™ I learned how to knit in the round

πŸŒ™ I also knit my first blanket

πŸŒ™ Had patio dinners and wine Wednesdays with my two best friends

πŸŒ™ Got to see a friend I haven’t seen since 2020 and it was SO good to catch up over afternoon lattes (like the good ol’ days)

πŸŒ™ Went to an outdoor event called Sugar Rush with a really good friend

πŸŒ™ One of my best friend’s got married!

πŸŒ™ Went to Niagara Falls, my first real trip since 2020

πŸŒ™ Got to see another really good friend since 2020

πŸŒ™ Ate a lot of sushi and wontons πŸ˜‚

πŸŒ™ I read my first audiobook and I really enjoyed it

πŸŒ™ Watched my brother build lego a lot πŸ˜‚

πŸŒ™ Went bookstore hopping with my two best friends

πŸŒ™ Read a whole bunch of Goosebumps books, it was so much fun

πŸŒ™ The blog stats went down

πŸŒ™ Started to hate the management of my job

πŸŒ™ I created a new logo and headers for the blog

πŸŒ™ Read a lot of good stories

I’m sure there is so much more that I’m missing, but this has already gotten quiet long. On a whole and looking at all of 27 it wasn’t too bad of a year. I mean, I feel like I spent it mostly at home (since I’m still working from home) but it seems like things are looking up, so who knows what 28 will bring.

  2. Happy belated birthday!! πŸŽ‰πŸ’• I’m so sorry to hear you had covid, glad it was mild. That must have been very scary all the same and it must have felt very strange losing your sense of smell, I hope it’s fully returned! It sounds like you’ve had some really lovely memories take place within the last year, here’s to many more ✨

    1. Thank you, Lucy! πŸ’žπŸ˜Š
It was really scary, because you just don’t know. It was super weird not being able to smell, it really changed eating and drinking – I hated drinking coffee and I LOVE coffee, but not being able to smell totally changed the taste.
Yes, I tried to have as many good memories throughout the year, thank you! πŸ˜„
