Hello friends, happy… Saturday! I’ve never posted on a Saturday, but since this has become tradition on my blog for the last couple of years, I couldn’t not post today. Today is my birthday (yay!) so I’m going to look back at the past year at the good, the bad and the ugly. π
Last year I categorized this in good and bad, this year I’m just going to go in order of the past year. Let’s see how much I remember π
π I had a pretty good 27th birthday even if it was a quarantine one β I got my hair cut and saw my two best friends on my front porch
π I started recording more videos on Instagram, which I’m proud of
π I wasn’t going to talk about COVID, but how can you not? I also wasn’t going to admit to testing positive for it because it feels shameful to say, but I’m going to because it did happen. I had COVID, it was a very mild case, which was good; it was like I had a cold, runny, stuffed nose β the only difference was I lost my smell and that was really strange for me.
π Felt super anxious and paranoid about going out
π I started to take more photos… my Instagram game is going strong
π I started making lattes at home (thanks to a new Keurig with a frother) and using food colouring to make the milk a fun experience
π I baked a little (more so in the beginning of the year… I’d really like to get back to it)
π I made dough from scratch, that was a mission but I’m happy I tried that
π Started to finally read more Canadian books (I’m almost through all 15 2021 nominated Canada Reads books!)
π Felt totally frustrated by the state of the world and the no direction
π My coworker and friend dropped off a bullet journal (… that I have yet to use π )
π Got obsessed with making iced lattes… even with chocolate milk
πActually took my bike out… even if it was for a few bike rides π
π Watched the Leafs blow another playoff year… there’s always next year right? π
π Saw my two best friends after months of not seeing them and went to sushi where they deliver it to your car… that was an experience… never again
π Went to the beach for the first time in years with my two best friends
π Got fully vaccinated and bought concert tickets to my first concert since COVID in the same week
π I learned how to knit in the round
π I also knit my first blanket
π Had patio dinners and wine Wednesdays with my two best friends
π Got to see a friend I haven’t seen since 2020 and it was SO good to catch up over afternoon lattes (like the good ol’ days)
π Went to an outdoor event called Sugar Rush with a really good friend
π One of my best friend’s got married!
π Went to Niagara Falls, my first real trip since 2020
π Got to see another really good friend since 2020
π Ate a lot of sushi and wontons π
π I read my first audiobook and I really enjoyed it
π Watched my brother build lego a lot π
π Went bookstore hopping with my two best friends
π Read a whole bunch of Goosebumps books, it was so much fun
π The blog stats went down
π Started to hate the management of my job
π I created a new logo and headers for the blog
π Read a lot of good stories
I’m sure there is so much more that I’m missing, but this has already gotten quiet long. On a whole and looking at all of 27 it wasn’t too bad of a year. I mean, I feel like I spent it mostly at home (since I’m still working from home) but it seems like things are looking up, so who knows what 28 will bring.
Happy Birthday, and hope you’re feeling better now! π

Happy belated birthday!! ππ I’m so sorry to hear you had covid, glad it was mild. That must have been very scary all the same and it must have felt very strange losing your sense of smell, I hope it’s fully returned! It sounds like you’ve had some really lovely memories take place within the last year, here’s to many more β¨

Thank you, Lucy! ππ
It was really scary, because you just don’t know. It was super weird not being able to smell, it really changed eating and drinking β I hated drinking coffee and I LOVE coffee, but not being able to smell totally changed the taste.
Yes, I tried to have as many good memories throughout the year, thank you! π
