Weekly Update #28 πŸš₯

Hello friends, happy Friday and welcome to my Weekly Update!

Currently Reading:

The Complete Works of Oscar Wilde; 49% of the way; I’m still making my way through the plays. I finished An Ideal Husband and some parts were better than others. SalomΓ© was an alright play I’m currently in the middle of The Duchess of Padua and I’m not really feeling this one, but I’m going to continue reading it.

The Bachman Books; 21% of the way; I started the next book in this volume, The Long Walk and I’m not really sure what this is about. I’ve read the first two chapters and it was like we were thrust into the story with no explanation, so I’m hoping we get some soon.

Lastly, I’m reading How to Murder Your Life by: Cat Marnell. I have no idea who she is, but her memoir has been pretty interesting to read.

What I’ve Read:

Last week I finished The Mortal Word by: Genevieve Cogman. This is the fifth novel in the Invisible Library series and man, with each book don’t things get crazier and crazier. I’m really curious to see what’s going to happen in the next book after what happened in this one.

I also finished Wayward Son by: Rainbow Rowell. I’m not a big fan of Rowell, but I did pick up Carry On years ago and I think I liked it, so I figured I should pick this one up; I read it in 2 days, which is really fast for me, it was fast-paced but I honestly didn’t care about the characters – they could live or die and it would not have mattered. This one ended on a cliff hanger so I’m probably going to pick up the last book just to put this trilogy and Rowell to bed.

Sofii @A Book. A Thought posted her amazing review of Cemetery Boys by: Aiden Thomas – she really captured the book in her review and I not only loved the book, but loved her review

I started the week driving out to see one of my friend’s to celebrate her birthday (it felt like everyone had a birthday last week). It was really good to see her after months of not seeing her. Aside from that, this week has felt tiring slow; I’m glad it’s over.

What I’m watching:

Gilmore Girls; season 7. Again, I haven’t watched an episode this week, but hoping to get back to it this weekend.

Orange is the New Black; season 6. After 8 episodes I still don’t know what is happening… it almost feels like the show doesn’t know what’s happening… yet at the same time I’m liking it. We’re seeing less of our old crew, but it’s interesting to see them in a new environment and I’m liking the new characters (for the most part). I like when we get a backstory on them even though I know they probably won’t be around for a while. I’d like to see how they sort out this riot storyline.

Schitt’s Creek; season 5. I am sad that Stevie didn’t get the romance/relationship she was looking for… I really like Ahmir… even if he was only in like 3 episodes! I love that Moria goes up to her and gives her a part in the play to help her move on. I thought that was really sweet (even if it was just so that she didn’t have to cast Alexis because yikes!)

What I’ve watched:

Christopher Robin; re-watch. I love, love, love this movie. No matter how many times I watch this, it still melts my heart, oh Pooh!

She’s The Man; re-watch. Another re-watch because this is another really good movie. I can quote it for days (in which I did when watching it again πŸ˜…).

Larry Crowne; I’ve honestly just been throwing movies on for the sake of watching something – this movie was weird. Larry gets fired from his superstore job because he doesn’t have a college degree so he starts community college where he meets this cool girl who helps him become more laid back. He becomes the “cool” guy in the two classes we see he’s in and completely changes his one teacher’s life. I have to say it was hella predictable and Wilmer Valderrama was the highlight for me; he didn’t have a big role, but he was funny and I just love him.

Up In The Air; Apparently this is based on a book… I haven’t read it. This was another strange movie where the main character, Ryan is like a professional firer; he literally travels around the country to fire people. One day a new girl comes in and says they can just do it over web chat. But before they enforce this new system, the two go on the road together so she can see the job first hand. Obviously she changes his life even though I found her very pushy on her believes in everyone wanting to get married and have children. When she said she thought she’d be engaged by 23 I laughed, like wow. But yeah it was charming in a dumb kinda way.
