Review: Wayward Son

Hi friends, happy Monday, I hope you’re all doing well. Today I’m going to be posting my review of Rainbow Rowell’s novel Wayward Son.

You can read my review of book one: Carry On

Wayward Son

Wayward Son by: Rainbow Rowell: Simon Snow has defeated evil and is living his happily ever after… or is he? These days he doesn’t feel like getting off the couch, but when Penny thinks their friend Agatha is in trouble, she, Simon and Baz decide to take a holiday to America to investigate; only when they get there it’s way more serious than they expected. For the most part this was an entertaining and action-packed novel. From start to finish, the plot was fast-paced and everything happened in rapid succession leaving the reader breezing through the story. The plot was engaging and easy to read; there seemed to be one adventure after another that kept the reader on their toes. There were moments where plots didn’t feel believable, like a character who has never driven before learns to drive and automatically drives well enough to help drive across country, like no. Aside from some of the plots, it was still a decent read. The characters really did some growing this novel. Rowell does a good job of giving her characters room to grow and situations that let them explore themselves and figure themselves out more; it was enjoyable to read. The way this ended on a cliff hanger left the reader curious how this trilogy is going to end and will probably pick up the last book to see where it leaves the characters. As for this novel, it definitely took characters to new highs and lows with the many different twists and turns.
