Hello friends, happy Friday and welcome to my Weekly Update!

Currently Reading:

The Bachman Books; 47% of the way; I finished The Long Walk and I honestly don’t know how I feel about it… it didn’t end the way I thought it would and it left me feeling incomplete and just cheated of an ending. My thoughts keep changing the more I think about it. I’m going to try and write my thoughts out at some point.

Lastly, I’m reading Stranger Than Fanfiction by: Chris Colfer. I have SO many thoughts on this and I’m only 100 pages in. Colfer is a great writer and he’s great at creating backstories for characters but they feel stereotypical. I like that he tried to add diversity to his characters, but they feel like he’s trying to check boxes off.

What I’ve Read:

Last week I finished In The Hand of the Goddess by: Tamora Pierce. I listened to this on audio, my second audiobook! And I liked this for the most part. The story was good, but there was a lot of jumping around and things just happening without warning, which was kinda annoying. I’m going to continue with this series as I’m curious to see where it will go.

I also finished Thunder Through My Veins by: Gregory Scofield. This was my next Canada Reads book and wow, this was eye opening to Canadian Indigenous people and their lives, but also diving into Gregory’s life was fascinating and watching him try to figure out where he fit in was harrowing and heartbreaking.

Lastly I finished The Dark Archive by: Genevieve Cogman. This is he seventh novel in the Invisible Library series and I’m telling you each book gets better and better; I enjoyed the new dynamics and the new places the characters go.

Elli @Ace Reader posted her thoughts on New Moon – I enjoyed this because I love reading people’s thoughts on the Twilight series.

This went up early last week because we left the Friday night for one of my best friend’s bachelorette party! We went out to dinner, drank a little and then the Saturday we walked around Niagara Falls. It was so much warmer than I thought it would be (and busy too) but it was still a lovely day. We ended the trip/party by going out to sushi for dinner.

The following day my brother and I drove out to my aunt and uncle’s trailer to spend some time with them since we haven’t seen them since 2019 and to meet up with our parents. It was a nice day, good weather and my feet got completely eaten by mosquitos! But it was a busy, yet full, good weekend.

What I’m watching:

The Dead Zone; season 5. I’m picking this back up and again, we’ve started the apocalyptic story line again… and it’s been dropped for now. I also don’t know where or why they’ve chosen to take to tackling racism, white supremacy and religion, but I’m curious how they’re going to continue with this. I think it’s great that this little show wanted to do that, but I don’t think it had the big enough audience to make an impact or to truly take this on, but I’m only halfway through the season so we’ll see.

Schitt’s Creek; season 6. I’ve watched another few epiosdes and I’m getting sad knowing that it’s almost over. I love seeing Patrick and David together, they are so cute – I know I say this all the time, but gosh, couple goals. Speaking of couples, poor Alexis and Ted they are having a rough time being apart.

What I’ve watched:

Little Fockers; re-watch. I remember seeing this before, but when we actually watched it I don’t remember a lot of it. This is he third movie in the Meet the Parents trilogy and it was a dumb, funny movie that was entertaining.

Yesterday. I remember when this movie came out and I was really curious, but when it came to Netflix I knew it was finally time to watch it. Basically, this movie revolves around this guy who after some freak accident, is the only one who remembers who the Beatles are. No one has ever heard of them or their music so he decides to re-record all the songs from memory. It was a really interesting movie; I also really liked that other pop culture things were removed from the world like Coke, cigarettes and Harry Potter. I also really loved the romance it was so cute. The main character’s parents were the worst, they were like these caricatures of parents. OH and Ed Sheeran was in this, that made me laugh.

The Dead Don’t Die. I put this on thinking it was going to be funny… but it was really boring and slow. It’s a zombie movie where zombies take over this small town. The movie had all these big names in it, but the acting was so wooden; I just didn’t like this.
