Weekly Update #33 ⛺️

Hello friends, happy Friday and welcome to my Weekly Update!

Currently Reading:

On page 1009
On page 349
On page 258

The Complete Works of Oscar Wilde; 82% of the way; I have hit the 1000th page! I feel really accomplished by this. I’m now reading his letters and I think, aside from Dorian Gray, these are my favourite pieces. They are just so open and honest and real.

The Bachman Books; 37% of the way; I’m continuing with The Long Walk and it has been slow going, but it seems with every chapter we get a glimpse of how the main character got to be on the Long Walk and how it works… I wish we would get longer passages with more information than these short bursts of info.

Lastly, I’m reading Cannibalism by: Bill Schutt. Yes, I’m reading about Cannibalism, but it’s actually been really interesting to read about and find it’s origins – I honestly didn’t think that I’d be as engrossed as I am with this. Hoping to finish this up tonight.

What I’ve Read:

Last week I finished The Midnight Bargain by: C.L. Polk. Wow- I was not prepared for how much I was going to love this. The writing was gorgeous and lush and the story was so good; yeah I didn’t care for the insta-love romance, but everything else about this was just so good. So much magic and woman power!

I also finished my first audiobook this week too, Alanna The First Adventure by: Tamora Pierce. I enjoyed this, it felt like so much happened in the first book, that I’m curious where this series is going to go. I liked the overall plot to this and I enjoyed the experience of having this read to me. If I can find the audiobook for the next book I think I’m going to do it.

Weekly Update #32 🏖

Review: The Lost Plot

Links to posts I enjoyed around the blogosphere:

Kristin @Kristin Kraves Books posted a great list of books without romance – I’m always on the hunt for non-romance books because romance isn’t my fave genre and it’s good to branch out to have a book with none at all!

Marie @Drizzle & Hurricane Books also posted her list of books without romance – I am living for these lists, guys!

As I mentioned last week, I posted early because I went out to sushi with my two best friends. It was really tasty and then we hung out and watched Freaky Friday because it was Friday the 13th! I love that movie.

Then that Sunday I had last minute plans to hang out with my other best friend at this event called Sugar Rush. It was this thing you can walk through and take photos with candy and stuff. It was fun to walk through.

Aside from that, it was another work week. My IT problems from last week spilled into this week, but I think everything is ok now!

What I’m watching:

Gilmore Girls; season 7. I was only able to watch one epiosde this week… I am never going to finish re-watching this 😅. But I do like that this episode was all about forgiveness. Logan and Lorelei talk all their feelings out and get along. Lorelei and Luke are also able to have a moment where they can forgive each other for everything that happened between them. Good communication.

The Dead Zone; season 4. I was pleasantly surprised to see this back on Prime so that I can continue… because I’ve come to like this show. This show continued with the apocalyptic plot for… one episode. I really hope we get it back because it’s so not over; like it felt like they’re shoving it under a rug for now. Aside from that I’ve liked the one-off episodes.

Schitts Creek; season 6. I’ve started the end… I’m so taking my time. I’m like 3 episodes in and I can feel the wind-down happening. I’m very curious to see where Steve’s character goes as she’s looking for a new job.

What I’ve watched:

Freaky Friday; re-watch. I’ve seen this too many times to count and I love it every time I watch it. It’s so funny and cute and Jamie Lee Curtis is the funniest I love her as an actor.

Nerve; this movie I put on by pure chance and holy I was entranced! I honestly couldn’t look away the entire time… this never usually happens. Usually I pause the movie or I start doing something else while listening, this, nope! Not one bit, I was hooked. Told she’s too boring, Vee signs up for this online game, Nerve, where you’re either a watcher or a player and she chooses player and she’s set out to do a bunch of dares for money. As the night goes on, the dares get more outlandish and you know something is going to go wrong. Like this was dumb, but I still really liked it… I can’t explain it.

Just One of the Guys; another by-chance movie – I didn’t love or hate it. For 1985 it wasn’t as cringy as I thought it was going to be. The main character, Terry, thinks her article will get submitted if she pretends to be a boy. I thought it was going to be worse than it was. The summary said she would “learn that guys have it tough too” … I don’t think that’s really true. She learns that she has to better her writing and when she’s helping Rick find a girl, I guess is “hard” but if that is all that’s hard for them… they have it pretty easy if you ask me.

Ma; this was a Netflix recommends for you movie and wow talk about psycho thriller! I had no idea where this movie was going to go, but damn! It had me guessing until the very end. This was something I enjoyed, but I don’t know if I’d watch it again.
