Hello friends, happy Friday and welcome to my Weekly Update!

Currently Reading:

The Complete Works of Oscar Wilde; 94% of the way; I’m getting really close to finishing this, hopefully next week! So I’m ending this book on his essays and woof these are daunting and long to get through. This reminds me of when people in high school would write essays and add all these big words to fluff the piece up, and write in circles by saying the same thing in different ways to make it longer – it’s been a journey.

The Bachman Books; 42% of the way; I’m continuing with The Long Walk and I feel like we’re finally getting somewhere. The ending is coming, and we’re finally starting to see how these boys came to be on the Long Walk, but now it’s a question of who is going to win this, if anyone is going to.

In The Hand of the Goddess by: Tamora Pierce. I’ve started my second audiobook! I’m not very far just yet, just a few chapters in but I’m enjoying it. I like the addition of this cat character and I have theories about it so I can’t wait to keep reading to find out.

Lastly, I’m reading A Stranger in Town by: Kelley Armstrong. I didn’t realize until a little bit ago that there was a new Rockton novel; I love these books, Armstrong has such a great way of writing characters and really dissecting them and all of their emotions and internal feelings, it’s definitely an experience to read. Plus, the whole murder mystery aspect is so good too.

What I’ve Read:

Last week I finished Cannibalism by: Bill Schutt. I have to say, this was a really interesting read; I enjoyed this for the most part – the ending completely lost me, but before that it was really good and really had me think, and I love non fiction that makes me think outside the box.

I also finished Carve the Mark by: Veronica Roth. I thought I’d give Roth another chance after not really caring for the Divergent trilogy and this wasn’t it. It was just lacking in world building and the characters felt very stereotypical and boring which made the plot feel flat, BUT this ended on a cliff hanger and that makes me mad, so now I have to decide if I want to read the follow up sequel. Silver-lining at least it’s only one other book, and the book was fast-paced.

I started this week with another brunch, I’ve been on a role! Another yummy start to my week.

Aside from that it’s been a pretty dull week. Work, work, work – at least my IT issues have been resolved.

What I’m watching:

Gilmore Girls; season 7. I am so close to finishing this (hopefully next week!) and Luke and Lorelei are back to talking to each other, but it’s gotten weird and then they went back to yelling at each other… and yet they are still really cute. Then Logan shows up and asks Lorelei for her permission for him to marry Rory. At first I was confused why Lorelei was so confused and baffled by that because I feel like their relationship was working it’s way towards this moment, but then after thinking about it, they are only 22 (as Paris points out as she breaks up with Dole for wanting to follow her wherever she chooses to do her undergrad, which is very sweet) that feels really young to want to get married.

Modern Love; season 2. I honestly didn’t expect this show to have a second season, but I’m happy that there is because I really enjoyed the anthologies of these stories of different forms of love. I’m only 1 episode in, but I’ve already teared up for it!

Chapelwaite; season 1. This is a new show that premiered last weekend and it’s based off the short story, Jerusalem’s Lot by Stephen King. I have to say, I’m very interested in this and I wish that I could binge it instead of waiting every week for it, but it’s spooky and creepy and after just seeing the first episode I like the way things have been set up. I’m curious to see where the rest of the season is going to go.

Schitts Creek; season 6. I’m going to keep this here because I did watch one episode last week. Seeing David and Patrick get ready for their wedding is cute, and then the whole maid of honour plot between Alexis and Stevie, so sweet!

What I’ve watched:

The Dead Zone; season 4. I’ve finished the fourth season in this series and like past seasons, I enjoyed this. I thought it was very heavy on the father plotlines this season and I thought that was interesting. Just an observation, I don’t even know if it was done on purpose. I’m still really curious about this apocalyptic plot that still hasn’t been resolved. If anything, the way this season ended has me even more curious because we’ve got new players added to the mix.
