Hi friends, it is the last day of 2020, we did it guys, we made it to the end of 2020! Congratulations, let’s hope that 2021 is going to be a better year. But before we completely let go of 2020, I’m going to wrap up the final month of the year.

I also wanted to say welcome to my last monthly wrap up! For 2021, I’m going to be trying my hand at weekly wrap-ups and we’ll see how that goes. I’ll explain more in my goals for 2021 tomorrow! 

Currently Reading:

I’m continuing with Stephen King’s short story collection from 1971-1978, Night Shift. So far, I’ve read 15 short stories; some are still a miss for me, but I’ve found some that I’ve actually enjoyed. I’m sad to say that I like less than I’ve read. I still have a few more to go, as I’m only 78% of the way through, so we’ll see. 

I’ve started my adventure on the third Lord of the Rings book with The Return of the King. So far, like the previous two books, I’ve been enjoying the slow pace of this. I’m only roughly 100 pages and I look forward to continuing.

What I read this month:

I read a total of 9 books this month, not bad! I’m also happy that I finished up one last book for the year this afternoon which brings my total to 102 for the year! Woot woot! My Instagram is still rolling along. I plan to really dive into bookstagram next year, so wish me luck on that adventure!

I’m going to leave this blank! I’m plan to start watching season four of The Crown later this evening but I’ll leave it out in case that doesn’t happen.

What I Watched this month:

I finished the final season of The Affair. I enjoyed it, like I have past seasons… I didn’t like the ending I thought it was meh. That’s all I’m going to say for now, I hope to have my thoughts up in the next few weeks. 

I watched season 3 of Dear White People. This season took the show to different levels. I missed that the show spent each episode on one character, but this still worked out well. The topics they talked about were still really relevant and I enjoyed the plots and the characters.  

Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 wrapped up for the winter break and woah have these shows both been very on point for everything that has been happening in our world. The stories have been even more hard hitting and just so eye opening it’s made me angry that this stuff still happens. The way that both these shows ended has me going, “I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL MARCH?!?” 

I finished up the third season of my re-watch of Gilmore Girls. Last month I thought I was miss-forgetting my season finales, but when I watched season three’s finale, I realized that the season four finale is as I thought it was. This one was completely different, Rory just graduated high school. I’m very curious to see how I take to Logan because I’ve always disliked him and have been strongly Team Jess. But after this re-watch I’m slowly leaning towards Team Dean… Jess was such an idiot in the way he did EVERYTHING… how did I like this guy so much? He and Rory didn’t even connect, they always looked so awkward. Them getting together was much cuter than when they were actually together. Okay, my rant is over. 😅 

I’m currently watching the season finale of season one of Schitt’s Creek as I type this. I look forward to really binge-watching this in the new year. The first season has had me in stitches and I look forward to seeing where this family’s shenanigans will go. 

I managed to squeeze in some Stephen King based movies… none of them were my favourite. Watching these is like watching bad movies… and I kinda enjoy doing it 😅

The Lawnmower Man: A Suburban Nightmare – this was literally a short film based on the short story. A 12 minute film that is a shot for shot of the story. It was good in that respect, but seeing as I didn’t like the short story it was alright
The Lawnmower Man – this took elements from the book and made it better. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this
The Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace – they shouldn’t have made a second one because this was boring and didn’t make me want to keep watching… even though I did. 

I watched some Christmas movies to get into the festive spirit. I didn’t feel like doing 25 days of Christmas movies because it’s been a busy month so I just watched what I could – here’s a snapshot:

The Christmas Chronicles – (re-watch) I wanted to re-watch this before jumping into the second one
The Princess Switch: Switched Again – this was fun, I didn’t care for the third “twin” to show up, but it was still cute
The Christmas Catch – this was a very simple plot that was alright, I didn’t care for this one
Christmas With the Kranks – (re-watch) I watch this every year and it never gets old, I love this movie!
The Holiday – (re-watch) I saw this for the first time last year and HAD to re-watch it again this year; I think I loved it more this time around! 😅
The Christmas Chronicles 2 – this wasn’t as good as the first one, but it was still filled with fun adventures
Jingle Jangle – I really wanted to love this, the colours and the plots were really good, but it was a musical and I can’t stand musicals so that put if off for me
The Grinch (2019) – I saw this come to Netflix and figured why not, eh the animation was cute, but nothing beats the 2000 live action for me
Home Alone – (re-watch) this is a Christmas classic for me, I prefer the second one, but I can’t believe it took me until this year watching this to realize the reason the scary neighbour’s issue with his son was because his son is gay… HOW have I not noticed this before?!
Home Alone 2 – (re-watch) this is still my favourite of the two, never fails to make me laugh. I have to admit the scenes with the robbers gets to be too much
Elf – (re-watch) this is just as good as the first time I saw it, still completely hilarious
The Santa Clause – (re-watch) Tim Allen is Santa Clause, I know no difference
The Santa Clause 2 – (re-watch) this is such a comfort movie
Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) – (re-watch) I love this movie, it’s hilarious and really shows the true meaning of Christmas
A California Christmas – it wouldn’t be Christmas if I didn’t watch a Netflix rom-com. This was hella cheesy and I guessed the plot mid-way through, but it was still a cute movie 
The Santa Clause 3 – (re-watch) it still boggles my mind that I went to see this movie in the theatres 😂 re-watching it this year, I enjoyed it a little more than past years
Jack Frost – (re-watch) this is always a hit for me, such a touching movie with a lot of funny moments
The Polar Express – (re-watch) I also saw this in the theatres years ago and I always love how magical this movie is
Happiest Season – did I expect to cry for the last 40 minutes of this movie? No. Did it happen? You bet it did and Dan Levy had me crying through my tears. This was so good!
Miracle on 34th Street (1994) – (re-watch) this is a Christmas Eve tradition to watch this version before bed. It’s cute, funny and just full of joy

Wrapping Up Bony’s 2020 Bookish & Personal Goals 

I’ve been exploring my IGTV more this month and I asked and people were interested in seeing an unboxing that wasn’t books 😅 so I did my first Michaels unboxing and talked about my knitting. I think people really enjoyed it so I may be doing a monthly knitting update come 2021!

The fact that I’ve become more comfortable in front of the camera, I even stepped out of my comfort zone to record something for work for our Christmas virtual get together. 

I don’t want to spend too much time on this but COVID hit my life this month and it’s been a very meh couple of weeks. I’m okay, I tested positive and yeah I went through a million emotions, but I didn’t get hit with it hard and I’m back to normal. I only had cold that turned into me losing my smell for 2 days, but all of that is behind me. Not the way I wanted to end 2020, but I have to say the silver lining was being able to come out of quarantine right before Christmas so my family and I could have a meal together for the first time in almost 3 weeks. (We all live in the same house, we just spent time in different rooms to stop the spread – everyone is doing good.)

I did have a lovely Christmas, even if it was a smaller and quieter one. My brother got me all the books I asked for 😊 and just being together has been really nice. 

Now onto 2021! I am SO ready for a new year and a fresh start. I hope, if you celebrated, had a Merry Christmas and you have a Happy New Year! See you guys in 2021! 🎊😊
